Liberty and Bretonia refuse to accept refugees!
VESPUCCI
The evacuation of Bretonian refugees is currently one of the top priorities for the rebel movement: reducing the expenditure of resources on unnecessary expenses, coupled with the preservation of innocent lives and saving them from the oppression of constant warfare, is a humane cause. Constantly moving liners and protection transports pick up refugees one by one on the planet Veracruz and seek to take them to Yuma or Erie, one of the two safe places.

There would seem to be no one to stand in the way of the evacuation mission: the liners may be valuable prey for pirate and terrorist elements, but not for those Sirius organizations with an ideology and belief in human law behind them. Rumors were circulating, and their confirmation was not long in coming: Liberty and Bretonia unilaterally announced that they would close their borders to any ships carrying refugees and would treat them as criminal vessels, subject to both arrest and death penalty. The latter announcement was made by none other than the Liberty Security Forces.

Such news could not help but create a certain wave of panic that swept through the Breton part of the world's population. Indeed, some of the arriving refugees were some of the kin who had defended the planet Leeds, or were themselves direct defenders of that planet from the once-existent royalist threat. Such statements from those for whom they fought seem truly shocking.

Dora Miles Wrote:My husband, Alex Miles, was a Leeds defender. He was part of the militia and died covering the retreat of his comrades. I can’t understand or even guess what he did wrong to the Kingdom, if now his family is simply doomed to death just because we had nowhere to go. What was he fighting for if now the Bretonians do to us what the Royalists did?!
Barry Webster Wrote:Liberty have revealed their true colors! No wonder: these people have always been slippery guys, putting their own benefit above human lives. Insurgency that they regard as terrorists is becoming more and more the right move for me, while now the entire Republic and Kingdom look like a gang of madmen who are ready to kill only because of their paranoia. Mark my words: several years will pass, and they will come to everyone who disagrees together, arguing this with anything but common sense!

As we managed to learn from the command of the Veracruz battlegroup, the current situation did not affect the evacuation process: as many as 2 flights of the "Long Stars" liner ended in a resounding success, during which the escort did not meet strong resistance. According to Isaac Barrington, commander of the battlegroup, "Veracruz will make every effort to break through fire and sword through the enemy's barriers and achieve the goal. We made a promise to the Bretonian refugees that they would return to a peaceful life, and we will fulfill it."

According to unconfirmed information, some of the refugees refused to evacuate and declared that they would remain on the planet, standing shoulder to shoulder with the Insurgency. The main motivation is that now they have no home but this planet, and they simply have nowhere to go.

Veracruz News Agency will keep the community of the native system up to date on events.
