Very likely to not be specific to the ship but rather a consequence of relogging from a large ship (with turret zoom / far zoomed out camera) to a Reaper.

Yeah this is just Freelancer being Freelancer. Only managed to replicate the issue reported the good ol' way: switching from a big ship to the Reaper.
