The past days have strained Sanae's patience a lot. Work, chaos, all falling together into a very narrow timeframe. She began planning for the promised vacation trip much sooner already, though with the occurrences on the 26th and the 27th of August, she knew she had to greatly adjust the plans - all within a small timeframe.
The hotel she had originally chosen for them, a mere 40 minutes by speedboat, was no more an option. Not after the visit of the KNI and Tokkeitai earlier this day. They might have promised not to spy on them in private, yet Sanae did not trust them. They already revealed having been behind the recordings in the bar her and Sapphire met weeks ago.
Due to Fujiwara's nature as secluded island with no permanent human presence, all other acceptable hotel options were even further away and virtually all of them could feature strategically installed spies.. all because she had to inform the KNI about her whereabouts.
Instead of searching for a fix place, Sanae managed to organize a luxury yacht* to.. purchase on short-term notice. With the aid of some "experts" sent to her by Irelei, she was able to ensure that the ship was not bugged. The crew would consist of her servants as well as her personal guard of which she knows no-one is a spy. Each and everyone had to go through Irelei's own background check after all.
Convincing the local government to permit a ship in close proximity to Fujiwara was tough though. It required some shady dealings with a local Hogosha boss and a significant sum for the administrators of Fujiwara to permit a 48 hours blockade of all traffic from and to the island - leaving it entirely for Sapphire and Sanae to discover on their own. Luckily, Irelei's skillful negotiation and Sanae's ample financial resources made it possible. All Sanae had to do was announce their arrival at least some hours in advance.
Only Sanae, Sapphire and approximately 1.700 cats on an island of 9.43km² featuring a singular small forest, rich green flora and large beaches. A small, untouched paradise with a huge variety of cat breeds as the established apex predator - and mostly birds and reptiles as their prey.
Sanae hoped to hear from Sapphire soon, as she felt herself in dire need of this brief escape from her daily life too.
