Grüße Frau Oberleutnant.
I find myself somewhat troubled as I review the events of my most recent patrol. With a cooler head than in the moment, it is clear to me that today's events may have well been avoided. The Wetzlar's CO knew that we needed all available assets on the scene, and yet he denied my request to engage, citing a need "elsewhere". Because of this decision, lives which were lost after reactor containment failed, not to mention that the Wetzlar will now spend weeks in drydock for repairs.
I know you've served with the Wetzlar in the past - perhaps I am missing some key piece of information here. Was it simple arrogance in his own ability? Please, enlighten me if it was otherwise. As things stand, I plan to submit my report without any adjustments, and have the Oberkommando judge all involved as they see fit. If you prefer that I did not, please guide on the details you would prefer to be minimized. I am not without blame - if my abilities were more than they are now, perhaps we could have overpowered the Corsair vessel in time to re-equip and finish off the Fryapa.

Bootsmann Beist,

delighted to hear from you. Granted, the topic may be everything but pleasant. Yet i appreciate those that reach out to me.
I do understand your concerns, but my answer is going to be a potentially disappointingly simple one. Seeing as your course of action is already correct.

You will not leave out anything in your report, nor will you endanger yourself by purposefully adjusting details in said report.

What happened happened. Never would i urge you to adapt or bend the truth - the Rheinwehr prides itself on exactness, punctuality and integrity. Something you have just demonstrated by the direction your instinct told you to pursue. Moreso something all of us will continue to uphold in the days to come. It is true, i served alongside the Wetzlar multiple times in the past. The precise reason as to why that course of action was deemed reasonable eludes me at this point, the Oberkommando will evaluate and decide accordingly.
Rest assured you need not worry all too much, you are doing just right soldier. I was in your position in the past, these moments will pass and it will be you who offers guidance to those that follow in your footsteps.

Für den Kaiser! Für das Volk! Für Rheinland!

Hochachtungsvoll,
