for me its not making any lag or something when you receive message , lot easyer to change from server to server ... not only fl .. all mp games are easyer to use you can see what your friends are playing ... lots of options and not disrupting game ... you can opet chat window with out minimizing game ... on my slow pc that saves a lot time
The latest version of Xfire incorporates an ingame web browser, and even a toolbar for you to quickly select if you want the web browser or chat window(s) open.

It has many options and its confusing a bit and hard to understand on beginning but its much better then skype so i dont see any reason why wouldn't we use it ...
I think its a matter of preference. I believe the discovery community uses skype because it is less process consuming when using the VOIP. (however, ventrillo and teamspeak are less demanding than either then them)
though... I'm all for Xfire as I log on it more then I do any other IM programs
Actually, I believe that Discovery as a whole uses Skype, because the chatrooms stay "up" even when you close them, and you can read backlogs and such. whereas you can't do this with Xfire.
Though Xfire -is- really pretty.

I started using Xfire a few days ago. Quite useful.
Although in game browser can be laggy at times. Steam's in game browser (Works on all games non-steam and steam) is smoother from my experience
Although the video record feature doesn't seem to be as smooth as I would have hoped.
