Ok, im very pleased with pretty much of the FX changes in 4.85 but do you guys think these weapons need a change....
1]Buckshot-I think its got too many colours at the moment. Maybee only dark blue and that turquoise...
2]Salamanca mk II-I think it looks too kusari'ish.
Also, you know when your in the ship buying screen, you can see the ship when selected and drag it around and that...Is it possible to add a zoom tool for that area so that we can see what larger ships look like? Just thought it would be conveniant.
The Buckshot looks ridiculous, I agree. I used to love the old sparkly version, now it looks like... clown barf? Also, Krakens being orange makes sense, but they look painfully boring compared to the old static effect. What else... oh, right, Black Widows. Incredible looking, but bloody hard to see against space. Maybe take the inner red glow and inverse it with the black?
Personally, I don't like the supernova effect. Intense blue and dark grey trail looks a bit icky, I'd say the blue needs to be paler and closer to the mortars' coloring (to give the impression of a higher-energy weapon which looks appropriate emitting brighter light), and the 'smoke trail' needs to be a lighter grey.
Such a intense blue projectile looks kinda wierd on stuff like angry Blood Dragon ships, whereas something paler and closer to white is more neutral, and more suitable for the vide variety of ships it is used on.
I just thought it would also be awsome if the Outcasts could have a custom engine effect. I think liberty when I see it and it looks horrible on a sabre from the back :wacko:. It could be orange or purple or something like that (thinking of the Gun colour and ID tractor colour)

The orange is great. But the sparkles..err.. I never liked em. Sparkles to me look unprofessional because of the random looking placement of the sparkles. They look like some kind of energy discharge splattered from the gun. Having random bits of energy coming from the Outcasts best weapon kinda sends the message "We purposely make our best weapons leak energy randomly, its only for the looks". I think it should be changed to like the circles effect like from a DIAMONDBACK (but not as dramatic)

They look like some kind of energy discharge splattered from the gun. Your idea about using a codename weapon effect made me think.. since faction guns have been developed over the years, perhaps they could use a few of the codename effects/sounds to give them a more powerful feel? For example the Liberty plasma cannon could use an effect similar to an ARCHANGEL, but keeping the plasma cannon sound effect.
I couldn't care less what the SN shot effect looks like, as long as the explosion stays. That's just me, though.
Tome, though, the Sabre is not Outcast only. The current effect has been there since Vanilla, and it matches well for the general neutrality of the ship.
But really, the old Kraken effect was awesome. Looked like pure energy, crackling and teeming with power. New one looks like a sparkly orange ball.
