Tachyon Guns

It has long bugged me that tachyon guns as we have now are rather...bland.

Tachyon weapons are cited to have "the longest range of all energy weapons", and I always thought this was reflected in the fact that the projectile is surrounded by a series of rings, similar in concept to a particle accelerator...plus it looks cool.

Anyways, here's an image of what I'm talking about-this is the old Hellflurry mk 2 effects. If it were possible to implement similar effects for all class 9 tachyon guns, I feel this would be kinda cool...

I agree with this, I always thought the lower-class Tachyon guns looked the most interesting, although the main projectile as you can see is rather small.

Perhaps the rings could be added to the larger projectiles of the class 9 versions?

I'd be in support of just reverting the effect to the older hellflurry effect, it was quite nice.:)

Easy done. It's a simple matter to assign the "rings" tachyon effect to the relevant weapons. The bad news is there are only three rings effects with the colours locked in -- the white Bretonia, blue/yellowish civilian and white/reddish pirate one. Although beam effects can be added to make the things look different and better.

Alternatively the .ALE files can be modified to give us new ring effects, with a bit of playing around, as has been seen with other effects in 4.85. That's trickier, though.

I'd support this for the Bret weapons, too. They have a similar effect on lower levels of their guns, 'cept it's blue-white, of course.

We could keep Destroyers the same colorwise, but add some rings - that'd be pretty neat! Alternately, the same but with Vampires.

Oooh I forget about Rheinland... I'm not sure if their tachyon includes a green "rings" type, I spose I could look it up.

It looks nice and cool... And is rather quick to do.
