Was hoping to speak after New York but that didn't happen.
Probably would have had something funny to say as well, but not today, things are getting too serious, what's happening with Erie right now is enough to warrant cutting straight to chase without a smart ass remark for quite possibly the first time ever, besides got a warning for you.
I was prowling around the Indepedent Worlds when I ran into a Zoner going by Trouble, to my surprise they were alongside Raven, and furthermore friends apparently. Normal situation I wouldn't even bother mentioning it, but considering the fact that she said she had spoken to not only you but also Hemlocke regarding Erie and even volunteered to act as a liaison between the Alliance and the Resistance I figured I owed you the heads up.
Anyway, warning and all that over with, since this "Trouble" was being so cagey about everything I was hoping you'd catch me up on what exactly I missed regarding Erie and why Liberty's suddenly gone open season on every Zoner in Liberty, hell, if you want you can throw in one of your famously blunt and straight assessments, just spare me any speeches, yeah?
I guess the Zoners aren't above disappointment either.
Long story made short, Liberty didn't like the fact Insurgency refugees were flocking to Erie given its close proximity and political neutrality. I've heard rumors this entire thing was kicked off by a false flag operation, but it's not like that matters. Erie is now under occupation, and Pennsylvania might as well be under martial law. Since the Navy seems to be having a hard time playing the game of "who's who" and sorting out resistance members from the average joe, they must have petitioned Congress to let them have a free hand.
And how free their hand now is, I expect it'll get ugly from here on out. I'm trying to help the resistance prevent that but it feels like I'm getting sidelined, was a mystery why until now, so thanks for the clarity. Makes me wonder why I even bother. I tightened up our regs back when Olivia was around to show her we could be more than killers, but we were still just "terrorist rabble" to her after all the effort. It's like there's a switch in my head that I can't turn off and it keeps making me try to prove myself and the cause to people.
It's just not worth it.

Honestly? I want to, but the way things are right now, it feels like my responsibilities are pulling me both towards this fight, yet it also feels like some of them are pushing me away from it as well.
Like, I know Contender is a rock, so I know at the very least he's going to be solid regardless of what I do, but with the kid in Pennsylvania and Bull on the other side of Sirius right now, it makes that choice all the more difficult because it feels like no matter what I do, I'm abandoning one of them when they both need me.
If only I could be in two places at once, I wouldn't have to make a choice then. But I shouldn't complain. I imagine it's nothing compared to the shit I'd reckon you've got landing on your desk these days.
Still, for the record, Damien, I get what you're saying, and you're probably right, but of all people's opinions to be worried about, I really don't get why you'd have worried about Sable's of all people.
She's content to write her own people off as idiots for having the backbone to stand up to Liberty, even going as far as to say good riddance to them if they get killed.
So yeah, don't see why you ever should have given a damn about her thoughts at all, and as for the rest?
Well, I'm sure someone has something smart to say on that one, all I can say is I know for a fact that it ain't me, after all you of all people should know I was never that good with people who weren't considered insane to some degree.
