I know there are other AI ships out there, and good role players. The Harvesters are the only ones I know off that, 'harvest' people so to speak.

My question is this.

How would two artificial intelligent ships interact with each other with differing programming, but perceive humanity in the same way. Illogical and compulsive.

I've been wondering how I would respond to a harvester if I came across one as a Sentinel.

I'd reckon that they'd have a banter over each others programming, then in the end the Sentinel may be forced to obey its programming and attack the Harvester for its 'reputation'. But then again, AI's have the tendency to turn Skynet on us.

What are your opinions on this?

Just so you know, I've never come across a Harvester before.

Use maths and binary codes. Math or sound are the universal languages. Since sound is math based, math is the only answer I can think of.

No but you can start dialogue by using simple numbers and codes then turn it into english

like

332321110011011xx2423 ... [code resolves] Greetings. This. Is. Unit. 32. Of.Hive.42. etc etc, a rough example..

only an idea

Is that how the Harvesters communicate?

Wait, have you even seen my Sentinels in action?

Eh, I've had a few RPs with other AI units on my AI character.

Generally, it depends on the type of AI each character represents and their status as hostiles/neutral/friendly.

My AI character is corporate owned, and it follows many rules that dictate it's behavior. It has no free will.
Harvesters, on the other hand are free thinking AIs, are not dictated by a human commander and have free will.

Generally, if two hostile AIs meet, I suspect that a bit of fighting could occur, either in space, or in the virtual world (virus wars)
My AI is rather weak, so instead of fighting in space, I rely on a number of cyberviruses to either disable or drive away other hostile AIs.
If two friendly/neutral AIs meet up, I don't think much RP would occur inbetween, as the AIs have a purpose and do not waver. Of course, free thinking AIs might have some RP, but the only free thinking AIs I know of are the Harvesters.
Personally, when I meet friendly or neutral AIs, I offer to upgrade their systems with a DSE patch.
It is important to remember that AIs are not human. An AI will always have a purpose in mind, and will just steam forward, trying to complete it's purpose. Typically, this means AIs will not banter with other AIs or other players for that matter, unless the other party starts a conversation, becuase it has no reason to. It's not human, it has no curiosity, and for the most part, it doesn't care what other AIs think, or what other AIs are doing as long as it doesn't pertain to them. The goal or purpose is more important.

Not exactly, the Consortium also 'harvest' people, abiet for diffrent purposes. Then again, we aren't pure AIs either, but Humans who have been extensively cybernetically modified and have shared traits of humans and machines. We do also use some AIs, though they either have full capacity for human empathy (or a simulation of such) or are utilitarian with significantly lower intelligence.

In our case, most of our AIs (and humans for that matter) are forcibly controlled and have no capacity for resisting primary directives. We treat other AI's pretty much like any other non-Consortium entity, falling into the 'Natural resources' capability. We will attempt to forcibly capture any examples of newly encountered AIs to reverse engineer and recycle their technology if feasable. Once we have studied whatever it is, we can usually translate their code-language and use that to facilitate communication and further assimilation.

As it is with the Harvesters, they seem to acknowlage us as machine entities and we rarely encounter one another due to the fact that our ZoIs rarely interact. And we don't waste energy and military forces on them, as we have more important strategic concerns.

All that begins must end.

OH oh, can AI characters transmit viruses at each other instead of shoot! Can they have another stat on their ship that can only be affected by virus guns and if it goes to zero the ship is automatically transferred to the victors account!?!?

Ok, that last one wasnt serious, but the first one was.
