Backstory as Gallic Junker

I'm playing a character with a Gallic Junker background. The character was made in 2014.
I'm wondering 2 things:
Are they still considered canon like "a thing from the past" or are they canon-wise just wiped from existence?
Is using said background in the character's story now considered void since the Gallic Junkers got discontinued?

They weren't retconned, just taken over, changed allegiance, for killed off and / or dispersed. This still shows up in multiple infocards. They don't exist but you can RP one of the former ones, and can even incorporate infocards into that

Interesting, so there was an rp reason they disappeared?

Yep. Everyone in (RP) hated them and killed them or was on their way to kill them. So they changed flags, dispersed or were wiped out.
