Large Ships docking to planet?

Hi,
I'm a newcomer both to the mod and the forum. After some hours of trading I have been able to buy a Lifter. I bought it on a planet and I took off. But Once in space I realized that everytime I tried to dock to an other planet I received a message like: "Your ship is to large to dock". Now I have 3 questions:

a) If Big ships are sold on planets, and thus they can take off from planets, why can't they land on planets?

b) I just reached level 40 and thus I should buy a faction ID. But faction ID are sold on planets and I'm not able to dock to any planet. How could I buy it?

c) The unpossibilty to dock to planets holds only for the lifter or it is the same for every trade (and capital) ship?

Suggetions: maybe it could be a good idea add the information about the (un)possibility to dock with planets in the readme.txt included in the mod zip.

You need to dock the mooring platform, not the planet/docking ring. Its the slender pole above the planet.
