Purchased game when originally came out, long absence, finally returned back to the game. Commodities are few and far between, I don't remember it being so sparse? I do prefer trading rather than fighting---how to get more money per trip??
For Trading:
1) Try to land on as many Bases as you can. This 'builds up' the Ship's knowledge for Trade Routes (and yours if you have a good memory).
2) Only bad Traders travel empty (sometimes it can't be helped, but it should only be short journeys) (I even buy Water to fill in gaps between Stations).
3) As you build up your knowledge, you will be able to make routes that will keep you building up your credits.
4) Long journeys will generally make you more credits, but are not necessarily very effective. You can make more credits, sometimes, doing shorter journeys and changing commodities. This will come with experience.
5) If you waant to make the most credits in the shortest time period, then trading in ores is the most effective (but expect to be hit, by the pirates, for larger sums of credits). For Ore locations this will be useful: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...tid=155629
Look for Player Owned Bases (POBs) near the Mining Fields, as they generally sell ores for about 2.5-3.5k per unit.
