Kingdom of Bretonia
Foreign & Commonwealth Office

For the attention of: Kusari Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

I am writing to you in respect of an incident that occurred in the Tau 29 system, 27th August 830. It is the understanding of the Bretonian government that the incident involved a Bretonian person of interest and resulted in the destruction of a Bretonian flagged civilian vessel.

Through press releases issued by the Kusari Naval Forces shortly after, we are aware that Search And Rescue operations were promptly launched to recover bodies and clear wreckage. The FCO has received several requests for assistance from families of crew members who are believed to have been affected.

On this basis, I am communicating a formal diplomatic request from the Bretonian government for Kusari to confirm whether any survivors were located as a result of your operation, and to repatriate any recovered remains and wreckage to Bretonia. We hope this will allow closure to those who are grieving.

In addition, we cordially request that we are appraised of the outcome of any investigation or inquest carried out by Kusari regarding this matter.

Yours sincerely

Monica Stopford

Imperial Kusari Charge d'affairs in the matters of Bretonia - Kumamoto Saya

Dear Deputy Undersecretary Stopford,

The Ministry appreciates your contacting us with regard to this matter and apologises for the delay in response. The authorities of Kusari can officially confirm the demise of a subject of the Bretonian Crown, Lord Lowfer-Ferrers, in space designated as Kusari Imperial Protectorate. Prompt search and rescue operation was launched to recover the remains of the victims and black boxes from spacecraft, as well as anything that could shed light on this tragedy. The Imperial Government of Kusari assures the Bretonian side of its fullest cooperation and transparency in this matter.

The esteemed FCO should be informed that not all bodies listed on the retrieved passenger manifest from the vessels involved (namely, "Meles Incognito" and "Pride") were recovered. Furthermore, some remains were damaged to a state barely identifiable due to severe tissue disintegration resulting from high-temperature energy weaponry burns. Thus, while we hold the abilities of the imperial coroners highly, the results are to be scrutinised with a degree of uncertainty. It should also be noted that "Pride" was seemingly destroyed beyond the borders of Kusari Protectorate space, in the Tau-31 system, and our vessels did not have immediate access to the disaster scene in lieu of the Gallic royalists responsible for the attack.

Kusari side pledges itself to send the remains, identified and not, to the space of the Kingdom of Bretonia at the earliest convenience. The Naval Intelligence of Kusari and Kusari State Police investigators working on the matter will share their findings with their Bretonian counterparts once the investigation is concluded. Please, allow me to reassure you of our dedication and determination to resolve this case and bring closure to the relatives and close ones of the deceased.

Availing myself of this opportunity, please allow me to express sincere condolences on behalf of the people of Kusari to the families of the victims.

With utmost respect,
Kusari Charge d'affairs in the matters of Bretonia
Kumamoto Saya
