Anvilstar Mining & Fabrication began its existence on the small station of Barrier Gate in Coronado in early 830 A.S., originally known as Rock n’ Stone Incorporated. Founded by Maximus “Max” Newman, the organization specialized in researching ores mined in deep space, providing purity reports to miners across the region to help them source the best deposits available. However, the blackout in 831 A.S. quickly bankrupted the company, whose margins were already razor-thin. The struggling outfit was soon purchased by the Independent Miners Guild, and repurposed to operate as a subsidiary focused on mining research.
As time went on, though, RnSi--as it was commonly abbreviated--started attracting a different crowd: miners who cared more about the work itself than the science behind it. This shift led to a steady decline in research output, prompting IMG’s corporate office to spin RnSi off as its own independent union. Restructured and renamed Anvilstar Mining & Fabrication, the company set its sights back on the stars--venturing into the black once again to carve out a living mining asteroids for construction materials and other industrial uses across deep space.
While AMF focuses mainly on the craft of mining itself, there’s a growing interest within the group toward fabrication and production. It’s still too early to say what that might mean for the company’s future, but the direction seems clear enough. After all, Anvilstar Mining & Fabrication carries “Fabrication” in its name--so it may only be a matter of time before they start producing and selling their own creations alongside the ores they haul in.
AMF employees are known as a loud, rowdy, brotherhood of hard-hats, drillers and haulers who live and die by the rhythm of mining lasers and plasma drills. Unlike the politically-minded IMG proper, Anvilstar are all about the grit of the trade and the danger of the frontier. They embrace a frontier spirit: Loyal to their crew, proud of their craft, and occasionally up to no good in various bars and taverns after a long haul. They might be likened to Junkers if they preferred scrap over ore.
Chances are, if you see AMF vessels nearby, there's a considerable amount of booze and Ore not far away.
Ship Types
Those within AMF fly only two types of ships:
While the Hegemon is used by AMF miners for various tasks, this ship has largely been replaced in favor of the Archon Modular Miner. Both series of asteroid mining craft can be seen operating in Tau-23, Dublin, and Omega-7 while forgoing Coronado and Omega-11.
While not flown as often as the mining rigs that most Anvilstar miners are seen operating in the regions of Tau-23 and Dublin, the Serenity transport is slated to be used in the delivery of fabrication materials for Reactors and Propulsion systems once these operations begin in earnest. At present, however, it's not known how many of these transport vessels operate within the AMF fleet, if any at all.
Headquarters
AMF was formerly headquartered on Barrier Gate Station in Coronado but have elected to live in their miners rather than be tied down, forming almost nomadic cultures. There has been discussions of creating a home within Tau-23 but this has not gone beyond jaw jacking.

OORP Note
The purpose of AMF is to have fun mining. That's it. Nothing else. We're not looking to get in PvP bouts with people unless attacked first. We're not going to shoot GMS, DSE, or any other "competetors" for being in the same field as us. We're not looking to trade verbal jabs back and forth between them either. The roleplay of Anvilstar is for the love of the craft not for pushing others out of the same fields we're mining in. That's not to say we won't defend ourselves if fired on first by one of those same competetors--we have no illusions that other groups won't be of the same mind as us and want those blues over the fun of enjoying an in game system.
We just want to have fun on weekends or evenings shooting rocks with the occasional roleplay banter back and forth. That's it. We'll either use the ore we gather to restock various POB's or use for ourselves in the pursuit of creating things like Reactors or Propulsion systems in the distant future. It's unknown if we will do this as owning and running a POB starts moving in the direction of a job and not fun, so we may only shoot rocks and refill others POB's. Maybe this'll change, but maybe not.
