The online nav map is undoubtedly an amazing tool for quick searching info regarding bases, jumpholes and everything inbetween. Simultaneously, it spoils everything and removes quite a bit of the "discovery" part many people want to see more of. It doesn't help that it overrides systems with no nav map in the game (Omicron Major), completely removing any mystery and spookiness they are supposed to represent. Don't get me wrong, with the patch cycle being so long the online nav map should be fully charted by now, but what if it was a bit different in the upcoming update?

What if next patch the online nav map would not be updated for, say, 1 or 2 months after the patch drops? What if the community would have to be the ones "filling up" the online nav map in some way, and only after 2 months the full map would be released as it'd be figured out by then? I'm curious to see the your thoughts on the concept; would you rather the online nav map be fully spoiled day-1 of the release, have only the new/changed/no-nav-map systems hidden, or everything hidden until X amount of time passes?

The nav map would be fully revealed after 1-2 months at most no matter the option.

[+]Spoiler
I understand there are other ways to spoil the nav map, an example is the "show" command in singleplayer, but it doesn't show an overview of system connections or the no-nav-map systems. You'd have to get into modding to see that, which can't be expected from the average player. Those that desperately want to find something, eventually would anyway, but I don't believe a few *very* determined individuals should be the deciding factor over everyone else.

Uh, the person who does the online navmap is @Error. Perhaps you could contact him.

I don't use the online navmap so much for character use as I more use it for RP/story planning. I would like if it had all the important information so I can plan my stories and RP accordingly.

No strong opinion one way or the other. Could be cool though!

Well, whether you turn it off or not, people who want to be spoiled will be able to do it. Always been an option with the tools available. For those who want to look at how the map looks like or quickly read infocards, it looks nicer using the online navmap. And it only makes it more inconvenient by disabling it tbh.

For me, personally, I like having it for references - both as a player and as a dev, such as for events, or location references, or checking station info.

The choice has always been at discretion of the player, you are not forcefully spoiled.

Do we really need the nav-map for the 40 systems? [Image: 1027673391014101002.webp?size=96&quality=lossless]

Poll added. This isn't a dev opinion @monmarfori, I'm genuinely curious what the community's thoughts on this topic are. I don't think the online nav map has been discussed in any depth in the dev chat so far.

Antonio do you know that exist the FlCompanion right? so ... will not be that "you have to fill your own online map. i use more the FlCompanoin than the online map to be honest, but many times i prefer a better resolution map, more to events or searching a specific cloud or nebula or some kind of field.
