So I am interested in starting a gallic character. I know very little about what is goig on in there and want some information on all the factions. I know you have the Gallic RN and Police. The Council, the Marquis, Brigand and the Union Corse. I only see ships listed for the Gallic RN, the Council, Brigands and the Union Corse. Do the Marquis and the Police have any ships? Are the missions fixed now? Can we run missions for the different factions.
So all you folks who have been playing in Galla let me know who's who and what is up with each group.
Yeah seems like Brigands, Maquis and Police are underrepresented. If I was in the habit of making new characters, and wasn't a huge pacifist, I'd make a Brigand, myself. Their ships looks great.
As for what goes on:
Nothing. they all stand around and get to deal with the odd OORP trader, and then they'll all get in a big fight about being white when you should be red, and that's it. As far as I can tell.
I'm going to post a separate thing about Gallia that will adrees some of what Ben has said but other wise here's this:
The maquis use council and maybe brigand ships, as they are allied with both. The police and navy share all their ships.
Missions all work just fine now, though you will probably want help with them, they are some of the more difficult missions in the game at this point. Skype me (see my profile) and I'm sure I can help or find someone else who can.
In Terms of population, council is pretty flooded, although not a lot of people with just fighters in the council thta I have seen. GRN has decent representation and UC is over represented. Anything other than that is somewhat empty and almost entirely indie. The corporate factions have no representation that I have seen, though I was helping someone set up an IDF character today.
In terms of things to do although what Ben said has been true it is getting better. Right now as all the factions arent adequately represented variety is a little lacking but that wont change until more people come and play in Gallia, so if your interested just waiting is going to do much less towards helping your cause then coming and playing through it. Also If you really want to RP it can be great, the RP in Gallai is rich and intricate ad when you meet someone with a good grasp of it it can really be fun, and can be more than red vs. white.
I can also put you in some gallic skype chats so you can ask people more directly about it.
Cool thanks for the info Tazuras. My Skype is SigCorps. Seems like the Brigands need help, but i have never been good at playing a priate type character. I do not have the heart to rob folks. Although I am getting an idea for some roleplay possibilities. Sort of a funny robin hoodish type.
Go ahead and send me a contact request on Skype and I'll get on when I get home in the morning.
Honestly I would advise you to wait with your Gallic char until the official beta is released. As for now, reputation table is not setup properly so there are many strange things going around and that screws all the RP fun.
Example? I normally don't do it but I was bored once so decided to get into Galia with my trader char. I got through all the systems fine, although space controlled by GRN should be hostile. I shouldn't make it that far. Then I've met a police officer, corrupted enough to let me pass for some credits. IMHO he should blast me to dust by default.
The other thing are trade routes. Some of them, like wine from Burgundy to New York, don't really have much RP sense as normally no trader working in Liberty should be able to get to Burgundy. Same for Gallic traders, they shouldn't be able to get to Liberty as long as they don't play betrayal on Gallia, but that puts into question their access to Gallic bases and resources. Anyway, this trade route is completely dead in terms of roleplay.
So, I would wait until everything's adjusted and people know what their official status against other factions is.
