Small disclaimer, I'm not sure if this would count as a full fledged SRP or a tech cell exemption, as such I have prepared the more 'indepth' version of the two in the hopes that, if it's supposed to be the other one, the request can still be processed.
2. What exactly are you requesting?
The Arbiter "Order|CV-Calamity" (originally "INS-Torment") to operate 100% powercore with an Order| ID
The freedom to exchange loadouts within that ID.
3. Exact name, identification and affiliation of the character:
Lucian Perez, originally Insurgency ID and affiliation up until the patch, request is to change both ID and affiliation to Order.
"Order|CV-Calamity"
4. Why is this request necessary for the continuation of this character's roleplay?
With the Insurgency on its deathbed, Lucian held the line on the Torment as long as possible before the ship became too damaged to realistically fight on the front lines anymore without risking certain destruction.
With fighting no longer being an option, the Torment moved on and evacuated as many civilians as possible, traveling through half of Sirius after negotiating a place for repairs via the Starfliers, ending up with the Corsairs. After much careful maneuvering the Torment ended up at the shipyards of the Order. Without a home of their own anymore, and in need of a shipyard to maintain the Torment over time, Lucian Perez and his crew have opted to stay and help out in the Omicrons as best they can, eventually formally joining the Order.
Originally I was able to fly the Torment in the Omicrons with the Insurgency ID, it had a bit of a handicap due to being out of ZOI but it was still doable. People didn't try to exploit the fact that I had ID limitations (by not engaging me for example) meaning I could often defend myself in combat situations and still have fun combat interactions that way. When it became clear the then upcoming patch would drastically change things I decided to take a break and see what the impact would be for my character, after the patch got postponed several times I was happy to finally log in and see what the new situation would be.
I expected some temporary ID or a referral to whatever new ID the ship could use to function, so imagine my surprise when I saw the ID tell me to grab a Zoner ID, and my disappointment when I heard that even with a Zoner ID the power core % was at 10% (not entirely sure why the ID refers to a Zoner ID specifically if the core would be at 10% anyway..?). At any rate, with 10% core even defense interactions are pretty much impossible to do now with any competency.
In the Omicrons Lucian has positively interacted with the Corsairs and the Order, given the reputation of the factions the Order seemed far more civil and safe for him and his crew to join, given that the Order now also has 100% core on Insurgency snubs and gunboats, this feels like a logical next step both inrp for the character and oorp given the tech cell access (This means the Torments snubs are able to function at 100% without SRPs being needed for each of them).
The request itself will allow the Torment to interact with the factions in the Omicrons with the ID of a local faction ID, meaning rp can be proactive in the region rather than reactive, without essentially being a lame duck with no actual ability to defend itself.
Without the Torment, or now Calamity, Lucian goes from a scarred grizzled captain who survived the Insurgency purge, to a disgruntled veteran in a cottage on some planet with no ability to interact with the greater theater in space we all enjoy to play in.
5. What short-term and long-term goals are you planning to achieve on this character?
The character will continue to fight in the Omicrons, particularly against the Nomads when given the opportunity. I'm also looking forward to the interactions with Liberty once they run into the Calamity and interact with it (an understandable sore spot for the character, having to be civil to Liberty after all that's happened).
7. Provide a cliffnote/summary for the links provided above.
1. The Captains log thread envelops the entire history of the Torment from the moment Lucian Perez became its captain. It contains much of the Insurgency's history from the perspective of a former Hellfire Legion crew.
2. Without contacts throughout Sirius, Lucian reached out to a group of Freelancers with a scrupulous reputation to mediate a safe place for repairs on his behalf.
3. The Starfliers reaching out to the Corsairs on the Torments behalf.
4. Having survived the trip to Omega-41 (Journaled in the Captains log), Lucian Perez meets his mystery contact at the Freeport and discovers he's dealing with Corsairs.
5. The engineers of the Torment make the agreed upon adjustments to the Corsair ship Parabellum in return for repairs for the Torment.
6. Fairly straight forward, a trade event to gather the materials organized by the Corsairs to repair the Torment.
7. The repairs of the Torment as written from the perspective of the Corsairs.
8. The Corsairs reaching out to the Order to repair some of the more high tech parts of the Torment.
9. Lucian meets with a mystery contact (Order) after a meeting has been arranged by the Corsairs.
10. Formally notifying the Corsairs that the Torment would be leaving for Order space to get its final repairs.
11. The internal vote on the Torment whether or not they should throw their lot in with the Order.
12. With the decision made to formally join the Order, Lucian reaches out to the contact entrusted to him during the negotiations.
13. The Order living up to their end of the bargain by repairing the Torments advanced systems (cloak + sensors)
14. A detailed recalling of how the Torments crew was integrated into the Order by being split up, as well as a description of the Torments first assignment for the Order/ encounter with Nomads.
15. A small story about Lucian dealing with the news of the Insurgency during the time skip, the results of a most recent patrol and coming to grips with having to change the vessels name.
8. How long has this character been building its backstory?
Lucian Perez has been around since, I believe, March of 2022. Once it became clear the intent was for Liberty to attack the Insurgency again.
I didn't decide to chronicle the characters progress/developments till mid April, making the first forum posts on May 8th 2022 (captains log).
9. If you feel that you would like to provide us with character references, specify whom.
@Greylock - for being my go to buddy in the Vespucci fights (be it as brother in arms or favorite target)
@Starfliers - for being the first external group I rp'd with on the Torment (not insurgency/liberty) and arranging a surprising meetup with the Corsairs.
@vladimir26 - for being the contact with the Corsairs and the many, many times he went the extra mile to help out.
@Cælumaresh - for loadout advice and flying as one of the escort ships several times, as well as heading the repair efforts from Order side.
@Omicron - for being my contact with the Order and the fun rp.
Kudos to everyone who helped out, this has been a particularly fun story so far.
