Firing Torpedo's

Hi
I hope this is the right place to ask..but I cannot launch torpedos by pressing shift +Q,
I bought a Nova Torpedo launcher and it show s up on the H.U.D bit I cannot fire it
do I have to target somthing first?

Did you buy ammo for it?

Your ship might not have the powercore to launch it. Fighter-Bombers can equip Novas but cannot fire them for that reason.

I've always put missiles and torps in their own weapon groups just so that I can get a better measure of my effective range. Also make sure you have ammo for it.
