For centuries, Liberty has maintained a technological advantage over their siblings in the other houses. However, in the past 30 years, that advantage has been rumored to have begun slipping. While Ageira maintains a monopoly on most Trade Lane and Jump Gate technologies, EFL has been eating into their profit margins ever since they came out of the Taus. Not only that, but with Kishiro successfully testing their jump drive technology, Liberty feels that their technological lead against the other houses has begun to erode.
Thus, Division Theta-9 was formed. Partially funded by Ageira and the Liberty Government, their orders are to obtain technologies, both human and extra-human in origin, and reverse engineer them to benefit Liberty and Liberty alone. They are given a "blank check" for covert operations outside of Liberty space to obtain this tech for the betterment of Liberty and her citizens.
On the surface, T9 operates as any other LSF division. Aiding their Naval and Police counterparts, retrieving Intelligence and disseminating it where situations call for it. Underneath this surface they are exploring various regions for technology to obtain and reverse engineer. Their mandate is to ensure Liberty regains and maintains their technological superiority by any means necessary.

Identity
T9 agents go by the handle of the ship they are flying. So you may see a communication from say "Dagger-2" one day but the same profile picture is used for "Echo-7". This is because the agents are known by the ships callsign and not their own. So if you see communication posts or message dumps from the same profile picture but a different name, this is the reason.
Due to certain problems which will go unanswered, this faction has changed. It's name has been altered and the faction is now invite only. Please do not ask to join, requests will be ignored.
On a serious note, always glad to see more small subfactions, especially in regards to intelligence factions. I imagine we'll be running into each other in the field before long.
I honestly hadn't considered the tag similarities. I had wondered where I got the idea for it. Now that I looked at Section 8 documents, I will probably change it to avoid any confusion. Sorry about that!
Thanks for the feedback. Soon as I have more time to play, I look forward to interactions!
You fear oblivion. Yet you forget. The universe remembers every atom of your being. Even dust hums your name in the dark. Roleplay is dead. Long live Powertraders and PvP I guess.
Some sentences are a bit long and dense, which makes them harder to follow—especially when dealing with complex concepts like alien tech and mysterious phenomena.
Try breaking longer sentences into two. It improves readability and adds more impact.
Example:
“As a result of these missions--often times going awry due to their ignorance of the nature of these devices--Section-41 has morphed…”
Could be clearer as:
“Many of these missions went awry due to a lack of understanding of alien devices. As a result, Section-41 gradually evolved…”
- "has lead" → "has led"
Just a small but important fix. "Led" is the correct past participle of "lead".
- Slight awkward phrasing here:
“…to one of researching these unknown artifacts…”
Consider changing it to:
“…into a unit focused on researching these unknown artifacts…”
Captain Echo “Flying free between the stars. No flag, no chains.”
