"Nah, nah... it needs a little more bounce. Hype it up, hit the snares like 20 millis before the beat."
Apok considered her partner's advice, then nudged a few notes on her custom DAW and hit play. Music filled the Interloper, enveloping them in sound. Pulsing bass and soaring synths worthy of the most energetic dance floors.
"Yeah, that's what's up," she concurred, habitually reaching for a nearly spent cardamine inhaler and taking a puff.
The sensations flooded her senses and she began to move to the music, her face lighting up as she added in some melodic vocals. The two worked late into the night, collaborating on a level that Apok had never experienced with anyone else. There was something transcendent about operating on the same level and in perfect mental synchronicity with another musician. To then see the results of their creation, thousands of bodies moving to their beat, that was what she lived for. There was no greater high in all existence, she was sure of it.
They woke several hours after passing out amidst scattered food containers, spent cardi cartridges, and spilled drinks. Apok was putting some finishing touches on their latest track.
"So when are we going to drop it?" her partner asked.
"Not yet."
"Well what are you planning on doing with it until then?"
"Heading into LD-14, we're gonna creep on the Ark Royal and blast it through their whole ship. You get us past their security protocol, I'll handle the light show."
"Light show?"
"Yeah every holoprojector and viewscreen on that ship will be playing our visuals. I don't know if we'll piss 'em off or give 'em a good time. Probably both."
Apok grinned as the smile spread across her partner's face. If nothing else, it was sure to be fun as all hell.
