Well since I am upgrading I am doing it properly, my current rig is like 4 years old. I just want a power house for upcoming games like star wars: the old republic and other stuff

That's an MMO... I doubt you'll need a cutting edge rig to play it. At any rate you'll get different answers for your questions depending on who you ask. I tend to support AMD/ATI as the underdogs, but I believe at the moment Intel has the edge with their I7 processors (I don't know about nvidia.)

Intel is a little corrupt, however. I believe their newest, largest plant is in China and now this;

Have you ever installed a processor before? It's kind of a delicate thing.

I'd go with a nice AMD Phenom and a 8800 - 9800 Nvidia video card. That'll be worthwhile.

It depends entirely on how much you want to spend but at the moment Intel have the better processors. But of course sooner or later AMD will release something great again and the whole cycle will start afresh.

I'm looking to build a new pc in the next few months, unless AMD release something in that time I will be going i7 920 with a GTX 260/275. That combo will be more than good enough and when you need a bit more graphics power you can drop another 260/275 in (cheaper by then) SLI.

personnally, i think AMD always has better power for the price. plus i have found that they are super durable.
and ATI and AMD are the same company now. so id go with them for Vid Card too

Every PC ive have owned has been put together by myself, im kinda in the know, just not sure on which brand to go with.

EDIT: Also its not just for the MMO, i want to play the latest games too. Looks like AMD and ATi it is then

Intel Core i7.

ATI 4770 is around 100 dollars and it beats 9800 hand down. The very best bang for buck you can find.

Flying under radar.

Few questions:
What's your current rig specs - CPU, Mobo, RAM and Video Card ?
Budget ? (This will decide Intel/AMD, nVidia/ATI & Corsair/OCZ/Kingston/Mushkin
Purpose - Playing FL ofcourse, but other things - Which games and which Apps ?
