Okay, so over the past few days I've had a lot of free time on my hand, and a little bit of inspiration to work with. I've never really many any artwork with Photoshop before, done a few tutorials on making planets and star fields (and put those to use in this picture) but other than that I've only been using it to colour lineart. So this is a first for me.
High above a planet, a lone Pirate Transport attempts an emergency landing after being tagged by some Pirate Hunters.

>>>WARNING: Do not attempt planetary landing without a Docking Ring.<<<

This took me roughly 3-4 hours over the course of 2 days, and I'm proud of myself.

I admire the fact that you did it from scratch, only with a bunch of brushes and other photoshop effects and features. Great work, it could do with some retouches and adjustments though.

looks good. only problem is, it looks too far from the planet. At this stage, it looks like its already in the atmosphere.

Oh honestly, what does that matter in the slightest if it's 'too far from the planet'?

It looks excellent, I especially like the sun just peeking over the edge of the planet there. Very nice!

I'm just pointing out my opinion and emitting critics.

the bright "glowing" bottom of the ship looks amazing. - the licking flames look ( sorry for that ).... like made with MS paint. they totally lack the ferocity of flames that occur on objects that penetrate the atmosphere

mind, convincing fire is about the hardest thing to make...

overall, the picture looks very good - would be better with a slightly greater bloom effect and without the spray like yellow flames, i think.

Very nicely done. The following comes to mind:
