The Battlecruiser Penitence is bleeding. The Corsairs are attempting to stabilize it's condition while Crete's military minds plan their next move in the region. Just like previous attempts, the Penitence failed in effectively disrupting Hessian operations and their economy in Rheinland territory. In contrast, it had been suffering from heavy attacks from the Hessian side leaving the cretans not much choice but to order a retreat of the vessel from the Dresden system. However, such a task is not to be undertaken lightly.

The Skorpiós taskforce, under the command of Atticus Hernandez, was previously tasked with preying upon the Kaiser's transports in Frankfurt. In an attempt to try and stitch some of the wounds of Penitence's battlegroup, they have been rerouted to Dresden. The taskforce now aims to protect the Penitence and her support ships, allowing for basic repairs and an eventual secure retreat into safer space. Failure of this mission would leave the Penitence isolated and vulnerable, substantially weakening the Corsair’s influence on Dresden, and the capabilities of the Omega-focused fleets.

On the other side, the MND has intercepted intel about the Corsair’s plans from intercepted chatter of their logistical convoys, which rarely have the iron security of their battle fleets. Lacking the local assets to act on the information on time, the information was quickly passed it on to the Oberkommando to take full advantage of the situation. Together, Rheinland's security forces are gathering a fleet to intercept the Skorpiós taskforce before it can reach the Penitence and its battlegroup. Their forces, augmented by available RFP presence, have begun gathering at hastily indicated staging point in New Berlin, before proceeding to intercept the convoy.

When the Skorpiós taskforce leaves its Frankfurt hunting grounds, Rheinland's forces will be waiting for them, with Hernandez unknowingly springing the Kaiser's trap. But as no Corsair is raised to command without substantial ability, the Rheinlanders would do well to not underestimate a desperate force. Now, the fate of Penitence's aid lies in the hands of the enlisted members of both sides, and the acumen of their officers in the battle to follow.

Combat Area & Disposition

Corsair forces start at the Frankfurt jump hole in Sigma-15.
Rheinland may start anywhere in the Frankfurt system.

Objectives

Corsairs: Reach Battlecruiser Penitence in Dresden (within gun range). Destroy all enemy forces as able.
Rheinland forces: Destroy all Corsair forces.

Rules

No cloaking or jump drives.
Corsairs must stay on plane and cannot use trade lanes.
Docking on an NPC base or leaving Frankfurt (except to go to Dresden) removes you from the event.
Event ends when all Corsairs have reached the Penitence, or only one side is alive.
Note that after the event ends, normal server rules apply.
