I actually love it. It looks great and performes better. Most of the old vista problems have already been fixed. Freelancer runs great and the only big problem is a compatability issues between IE and Skype, but windows claims that downloading the newest version of Skype will fix that. Lots of convienient widgits came with it. And the little noises that windows makes can be edited and changed, I really like it. I think it so good in fact, Im going to strongly suggest against torrenting it, windows deserves their money for this one.

(//note: I am beta testing for microsoft, I did not pirate it.)

Though I'd post this just incase anyone cared.

I am quite interested, and as microsoft have now made their Release Candidate publicly available for free I am very tempted.

What is currently putting me off is that of March next year the pc will shutdown after 2 hours due to it being an unlicensed copy. That is quite some way away though... hmmm.

I really don't like how quickly they pulled 7 out. Gives me bad memories of what happened with windows 98...

I think they were anxious to fix Vista, but Vista had sooo many problems that they needed a whole new system. And thats pretty much what this is, it has the universal compatability of XP, teh purty looks of Vista, and the new software and nextgen drivers of..well.. 7

(at Turk): Yea, but I nver bothered to look on the old ones, and 7 has tons of choices, ranging from official and nononsense, to cool, and even plain out hilarious

They pulled out 7 this fast as it is just Vista SP3 - or Vista as it should have been.

I'm running Vista RC as my main OS now, been running this since early this year.
FL works on it that's why I'm here active on disco.

The only issue I've had is with CD daemon tools - none of them seem to work with 7. Not a big issue, I just make copies my my originals and pop them in the tray for now. Will probably have to wait for the official release.

Jazz, Who uses IE anymore ?

There is one more issue I ran into while installing - it was there even in Beta.
When you have a RAID set + 1 non-raid drive and want to install on a non-raid partition, the installer gives an
error saying that it couldn't find the partition. Somehow the RAID's presence is enough to upset it.
Remove the RAID disks and it goes through.

Installing on the RAID itself is not an issue as you can sue the 'Load driver' option.
What I didn't try was to load the driver anyway and still install on the non-raid, but then I didn't want to take
a risk - It's RAID-0:)

IE was already here and fully updated, I see no problems with it yet.

A service pack that you pay for, right? After ripping us off with vista, they release a "bug fix" version, aka:7 for us to purchase all over again? Or do we get it free from windows update on vista systems?

True, my friend, I share your pain too.. I paid $450 for Vista, I can just hope the upgrade doesn't cost an arm and a leg... maybe upgrade next year.

Actually development of Windows 7 was concurrent with Vista. Windows Vista was designed as a short-term stepping stone between XP and their true next generation OS, which what Windows 7 is.
