Given Malta's recent, let's call them, challenges, I am opening up a line of communication of our two parties via this secure channel. These are trying times, and to ensure prosperity for our people, both on Planet Malta and beyond, cooperation is essential to our survival.
Should you need anything from La Famiglia, please request it from me personally within this channel. We are small in number, but many of us are former legionnaires and soldiers, who know one end of their Sabres from the other. We also understand that you have a larger available fleet of capital-class assets, and we may request aid from your commanders, should the need arise. Rest assured, it will be mutually beneficial for both of us.
Should you prefer a meeting, I prefer to do it in the cockpit, rather than planetside. Seek out my Consigliere and assistant, Alba Vecellio, and she will arrange a meeting for our parties to discuss the current state of affairs.

First of all, let me express my utmost apologies for the delayed response. Somehow this communication slipped through my notice. It was... unprofessional to leave this unregarded for so long.
I am Alejandro Harabero, Explorador Alfa of the Maltese Hyperspace Starfleet. Don Harabero also will suffice. I do not believe our forces have yet had the privilege of meeting each other formally within space, something which I aspire to change. As brothers of Malta, we must cooperate to ensure the survival of our kind and domination of the Orange Dream, to which end you contacted me. Allow it to be known that I reciprocate that desire, and I look forward to cooperating further with la Famiglia di Medici.

Subject: A Turn of Events

I hope you've been well. I wanted to give you an update on our situation in Tau-23. Our group launched an attack today against the miners who operate in the region. Tau-23 is a vital supply line for Cardamine, as you're well-aware, and a focal point for my forces specifically. The asteroid fields provide excellent cover for our experienced Sabre pilots, and we are able to hit-and-run quickly.
Nothing you haven't heard, I'm sure. But, an interesting turn of events happened today near the entrance to Tau-31. A large nomad presence appeared there, and proceeded to open fire on my men patrolling near the gate, seemingly unprovoked. Thankfully, we took no major casualties, and were able to push them away. But their presence in Tau-23 was... disturbing... to say the least.
I am still gathering data from my men on the specifics, as I was only there as an emergency response. But I wanted to get this message out to you quickly. I'm not sure where you and your troops stand when it comes to nomad lifeforms, but we have never made it a point to antagonize them. They are simply too unpredictable for me to tamper with, and my men are too valuable to be thrown away or tainted by their presence. Should you have any more information or advice that could be deemed useful when dealing with them, I'm all-ears.
In addition, Tau-23 currently seems to be a hotbed for hostile activity as of late. We could certainly use your support in the coming days. This is assuming, of course, that you have the troops available to do so. Oursoldatos currently maintain a strict vigil throughout the system, but we're not infallible, and your support would be greatly appreciated.

Buenas tardes. It is good to hear from you.
Reports of a Nomad presence in the Tau 23 system is disturbing, but not altogether unheard of. Several years ago we reported their activity within the Tau 23 system, but that came about during an increase in their activity all across Sirius. Let us hope that it is not the sign of a new surge in their presence. We'll be on our guard for them.
There is a... long history between the Starfleet and the Spirits. As for now, we are hostile but not altogether unfriendly to them. There have been short periods of cooperation between us, but they are dangerous and a threat to our people. I'm glad to hear your position toward them, as I would have recommended the same thing. It is better not to get entangled in their games if at all possible.
We are aware of the surge of hostilities erupting in the system as of recent. We have sent forces to assist in battles there over the past few days, yet we can spare some more to assist your operations. We'll try and keep in contact with your units there.
