The Makassar Syndicate was created by a group of enterprising administrators, investors, station crew, and affiliates to the respective station, who’ve banded together in their shared mission to pursue financial and political independence. Much of the Syndicate are former Guild members, Crayter ISE personnel or simple folks who’ve come to call the Tau’s their home and have no wish to conform to the oppressive ideologies of controlling political bodies or corporations seeking to maximize profits at the expense and labor of their underlings.
Makassar Station originated as an ore storage and refining facility working the South Niobium Fields, but quickly evolved into an enterprising bazaar of goods coming from and through the Tau’s. Deals were etched out to build their market visibility and the location began to evolve and take on a culture of its own, one of rugged individualism and eager entrepreneurial spirit. Among the flourishing lower decks, even a fledgling black market sprang up to fulfill the needs, desires and whims of the visitors and residents. Once the controlling ownership shares were consolidated between two individuals, Nyssa Lyons and Mark Rooney, many new rapid development phases were undergone to grow the entity further, including a costly move of the station to a more suitable location when the South Fields became prohibitively less profitable. After this, new modules were brought on to begin a light manufacturing sector on board for various components in high demand that would secure the station's economic future, away from solely relying on volatile ore markets. Having consolidated assets and restructured personnel, the new leaders of Makassar have acquired better military hardware and more Lhotse’s and other Guild assets to better protect their continued evolution.
Upon this rebranding, new connections are being made to put the Syndicate “on the map” and further guarantee the future of their people and values.
Faction Goals:
To become the preeminent economic power in the Tau's... at any cost
To get back to the roots of IMG culture, diplomacy, and ideology
