So permit me to elaborate. Whilst of foreign design, this software is a handicraft of my beloved Sister. Now she is not a blood relative but part of the family since roughly a decade now. She started off as sub-contractor for the Lane Hackers, designing software and modifying hardware for countless applications. Long story short, she got tired of working merely to expand their riches and pursued her own to properly finance another hobby of hers. I stumbled upon her by chance around that time and we've grown as close as Sisters quickly.
I trust her with every bit of my soul and heart, she went this way with me from the beginning up to where I stand now. She is overly cautious though and never ceased developing fancy tools and software. Instead of selling these off, they're for in-house usage to guarantee for my security and perhaps deliver me one or two unheard of advantages here and there. These means of encryption tied to the files are just one of many such tools. Very handy, very hard to break into.
You were wondering if we caught any bugs, look, the security system is not just seeing your every step in the ships corridors, it also analyses your every move. With the exception of a few areas, there's virtually no privacy on this vessel. But that would have effectively been cheating, so I searched for myself and found a total of five bugs. Are these all or should I start cheating now?

I can take a look on it, but no promises. Well made bugs rarely lead to any clues. Unmarked optronics and thing like that.
It it wasn't your friend, I'd look for their receiver. These things can't broadcast far due to their size and limited power. On ships, they are usually hidden between other control systems for long term surveillance - either it looks like a power supply or a circuit board. Hard to notice at first glance, but accessible to almost anyone.
They might be also collecting data in person through a handheld device, but that's not as reliable as it relies on a person to not get seen and caught. Also if your Sister is as paranoid as you say, she'd be checking personal devices of your crewmen.

Thank you for your advices, turns out they were luckily not required to be followed. It was my Sister playing a prank on me and well, both of you too. The tea room is being surveilled too and given the fact only me and her got access to the data vault, she must have done it. All these bugs were just dummies, she played the innocent little girl when I approached her but I know her too well.
You should double check your own ship though. I got a feeling this is some sort of elaborate test if we can truly trust you.

Looks like I was right. Apologizes for this, Iriel isn't the type of woman easily convinced by someone. I'll inform her not to fool around like this and think of better ways to test you. I hope you don't mind her doing so? I can hardly talk her out of this.
Not like you got anything to worry about, I ran a few checks myself after our first conversations already. Whatever you do, don't go aboard her ship though. She might consider you suitable for her other hobby and I'm quite sure that would end up interfering with your duties.
