I must say, you're very resourceful for paying so much attention on your first introduction day - not a lot of newbloods asked about this. I expected no less from a fellow Gaul. Très bon.
I'm pleased to inform you that, oui, we do have warship command and leadership courses you may take part in. My mastery trainer's class currently requires additional students in order for the course to begin at full capacity. It is, however, going to be strict, you will have to attend multiple seminars, there will be multiple manuals for you to review and study, and Lieutenant Tanner is known to be a particularly... effronté one, shall we say. As he should - we wouldn't want valuable high yield company equipment to fall under the responsibility of some riff-raff imbéciles now, would we?
These are the terms: the course shall take place throughout the span of two to five weeks, depending on your aptitude. Failing the tests will result in no more do-overs for a year, after which you shall be able to apply again. Lieutenant Tanner requires a fee of 10,000 Sirian Credits per week.
I'm sure you'll do quite great, Dutoit. You have my blessings.
A harsh but fair mentor is ideal, I'll appreciate his tutelage when deployed and put under real stress. I will confess I was not expecting you to be Gallic or so elegant. It is nice to not be among "strangers" for once even if you are my superior.
If I may ask something of a personal question, how do you manage life out here? I have lived in frontier systems for many years but nothing has been quite so isolating as the Omicrons. Or so inhospitable. And it isn't just the locals I speak of.
Though I suppose I'm not surprised by all this. I had assumed there would be some degree of "teething" before I became acclimated.
But that aside, I appreciate your support, and will seek out Tanner at once.
