Well its been a while since I posted on these forums and henceforth a while since I have griped about anything. So lets rectify that situation now.
Today I am going to make myself even more unpopular by criticising certain members of certain official factions concerning their actions and attitudes ingame towards other players.
Firstly, and most importantly, being a member of a faction in my mind is a privilage that grants you certain rights but not total rights as some seem to assume.
Just because you belong to an official faction does not make you anymore important than any other player on this server in my mind and certainly does not give license to belittling newbs, independants, or anyone else you deem to be a lesser person ( and doing it in RP is equally unacceptable). Indeed, as a member of an official faction I would say you have a duty towards helping these players and making them welcome on our server. Many players come here and have no idea who is who and what is what, even after reading the forums (there is a mind boggling amount of information that nobody can absorb in one sitting), and it is the more experienced players responsiblity to aid others in the learning process if they dont want to spend all their time complaining about others ignorance of the rules and guidelines. If you do not, then visitors to this server will take away with them an extremely negative view that they will pass on to anyone else that listens.
As a faction member you are also an ambassador for your faction, your actions and attitude reflect how people percieve your faction as a whole. If you are rude or ignorant to others then they may form the conclusion that any faction that accepted you is full of likeminded individuals, they may well be correct in some cases but thats a matter of opinion.
Lastly a comment on attitudes to independent players specifically. Nobody is forced to join your faction or any other. Many indies out there, including myself, are happily RP'ing their characters in the role they have chosen for it and a lot of the times doing it a damn sight better then some faction members. Just because they do not belong to a faction does not mean that they are inconsequential. If they choose not to join a faction then that should be respected, especially if they are contributing in a positive way to their chosen area of operation.

Not at all, I have no preference for either. I play indie cos it suits me. This topic is aimed at certain members of factions who upon reading it will no doubt recognise themselves. I am not attacking factions at all, I believe in general they add something to the server that would be sorely missed if removed and as a whole I have no dislike for them. I am merely ranting at some faction members.

You are completely right Non of the factions should, or suppose to feel like they "ARE" the NPC faction, the indie are part of it and in some cases the majority of it.
You sound like Martin Luther King. Either way, situation ain't gonna change. People are judgmental, no matter how much we want to change, we usually remain biased towards certain things. No point in trying what won't succeed. You can change an individual, yourself most probably, but changing everyone is hard, not to mention most will just ignore what you wrote.
Hehe, fair enough, tho, i still say, factions have done much to make a name for themselfs, so some kind of respect should be given. At least a bit. Please x.x we need ego too! a bit. kinda.

Curiously enough I used to be Martin Luther King, though not in this life obviously. And yeah I agree with what you say. But that doesnt mean I should hold my tongue and not voice my opinion. I'm sure nothing will change, but if just one person reads my post and decides that yeah, their attitude has been a bit off and they should rethink it then my post has succeeded in some small way.

Sindroms there is no disrespect for factions anywhere in my post. I think they do a brilliant job in creating a vibrant and exciting environment on our server and I would not be without them. It would be pure anarchy. As I stated before, its just a few members of some factions who have an elitist opinion of themselves.
