As tensions begin to escalate between The Republic of Liberty and Empire of Kusari over various disputes, ranging from technological advancements, to resources in the Independent Worlds, the Kusari Office of Intelligence has been put into a tough position. Typically working clandestinely to further their objectives, it seems that subtleties are flying out of the proverbial window. With tensions higher than ever, and the fate of the Empire in the balance, the KOI feel the need to act, and act quickly.
司令官 Ichiro Nakashima, divisional commander (Shireikan) of the Northern Kusari region, has initiated a long-dormant contingency: 雷神プロトコル — the Raijin Protocol.
A hand-picked, combat-ready taskforce, the agents selected for this contingency have been recalled from the Kyushu system and Taus, and repositioned near Shikoku and Galileo. Raijin operatives will act as a high-speed vanguard into the Independent Worlds and, when deemed appropriate by the Shogunate, penetrate deep into House Liberty itself. Equipped with experimental technology and advanced backdoor routes, they are prepared to destroy targets within Liberty Space with surgical precision. This style of warfare is what inspired the name, Raijin. High-risk, high-impact, and plausibly deniable, the goal of the protocol is to be like its name: the metaphorical lightning to Kusari's military might.
While Raijin agents may often operate separately, or with minimal support from the Kusari Naval Forces, they remain capable of providing essential reconnaissance, sabotage, and auxiliary support for heavier capital assets. They are more than willing to take their places on the front lines of battle, and agents know that assignments they embark on could very well be a one-way ticket. They are willing to fight - and die - in order to fulfill their mission.
With the Kusari-Liberty conflict heating up in the Independent Worlds, I wanted to create a faction where people interested in playing a more war-like KOI can gather and coordinate. This is more of a side-thing for me, and I have no intentions on officialdom or taking this faction super-seriously. The writeup needs work, and I will be working on a Discord server and other threads related to the faction this week, but I wanted to get the faction out there and gather some interest.

Nice to see a KOI faction around and good to see Kusari kind of waking up from it's slumber. Hopefully these story beats between Kusari and Liberty helps to do more to generate some activity. Enjoying some of the writing I've seen so far already. Looking forward to more!
