116TH SQUADRON
So-called: "Humanity's sword"

The 116th Strike Squadron is a unit long forgotten by the entire Order. Once a small unit in a large structure, now they are the ones that became the backbone of the 34th Brigade and its subsequent achievements. The squadron mainly engaged in combat missions within the Omicrons and ensured the preservation of The Order sovereignty and its superiority over the Nomads even after the fall of the planet Toledo. For many of the Brigade veterans, 116th Squadron was like family. And although very few of the unit's members survive today, those who remain remember those days with fondness.

- "You will be the ones who will form the basis of the greatest work in the history of the Order. A symbol of change, a symbol of new hope for all of humanity. A symbol that the Order will always change and evolve, just like our alien opponents. Adam, I am truly counting on you. Do not let me down."

SYNOPSIS

Second Gallic War was drawing to a close. With the end of the nightmare that had tormented Sirius for so many years, The Order began to feel reinforcements in its ranks. The 16th Strike Squadron was formed from those who had fought alongside Liberty and Bretonia. Adam Helson and Matthew Miller started a great story that will only get its well-deserved conclusion eight years later.

For three years, the 116th Strike Squadron was one of many units of the Order, directing the organization's sword against the Nomads and their minions throughout Omicron. The unit took on exclusively combat missions and was not known for having professional spies or great scientists. Perhaps they would have remained in the shadows, been destroyed, or simply transferred to another unit. But in 830 A.S., Second Cincinnatus Division set its sights on two promising ex-officers from the Bretonian Armed Forces. Major William Scott noticed them.

Those who contributed to the creation of the 34th Brigade intended to transform the Order into something greater than it is now. The Second Division had long opposed the organization's current agenda, believing that the glory of Colony Wars happened in 800 A.S. was long gone. They believed that the organization needed to move forward, otherwise tragic events such as Toledo would seem trivial in the near future. And Blackout became the reason to take action. When creating the 34th Brigade and all units of the “30th” pattern, William was driven not only by the desire for discoveries and victories of The Order, but also by political intrigues within the organization.

The voice of the 2nd Division must be louder, and 116th Strike Squadron became the beginning of what had been planned for so many years.

STORY

The 116th Strike Squadron was formed back in 825 as a continuation of the Order's influence in the Omicron region. The squadron's tasks included standard patrols, escort missions, and active combat operations against the Nomads. The unit had three combat wings at its disposal, each of which was deployed in its own sector of Omicron, as well as one logistics wing to provide timely material support. The Squadron's personnel consisted of veterans of the Order from the aforementioned wings, creating an effective and capable unit for carrying out its tasks.

For two years, 116th Squadron did not stand out much from other units of The Order, effectively acting as one of a great many, being part of the “gray mass.” This was obvious, given the nature of the unit's work, which had been routine for the Order for 25 years since its creation. Only two years later, two promising officers from the Bretonian Armed Forces, Adam Helson and Matthew Miller, joined the Squadron.

Adam and Matthew were primarily careerists within the Order, and they envisioned the development of 116th Squadron, aiming to transform it into something more. Their vision of forming a larger unit capable of expanding its operations across the entire sector attracted the attention of their superiors. They frequently requested the squadron's involvement with the Order's scientific staff, providing significant support for the organization's research missions. Their requests were heard, and at some point, the 116th Squadron began to increasingly leave Omicrons, operating in Sirius. 116th Wing's activities were noticed in many corners of the sector, and the number of scientist escort and transport missions set the squadron apart from other Order units.

It was a great time for the 116th Squadron, largely because the escort missions they performed enhanced their reputation. They were respected within the Order. The data they received from their reconnaissance missions allowed them to confidently conclude that Matthew and Adam's plan to involve the 116th was sound, and that the Squadron deserved more than it currently had. Throughout the three years, the unit received increasingly complex missions and excelled at them, at some point seizing the initiative from Akabat HQ and taking responsibility for controversial decisions.

Some would consider this a violation of regulations and orders. This caused some controversy among the higher-ups. But the Order is flexible, and so as long as the 116th Squadron works for the good of the Order and all of humanity, they have nothing to worry about. Surrounded by universal glory, 116th Squadron expected something greater that would push them to great achievements.

Major William Scott, commander of the Second Cincinnatus Division saw potential in Matthew and Adam's squadron and invited them to participate in the formation of the 34th Brigade. All "30 pattern" units were expected to be of equal size and would target the growing number of anomalies in the Sirius sector, as well as attempt to move beyond it. However, the cards fell in such a way that the 34th Brigade fell out of the overall scheme, having acquired the most resources and ships. William Scott placed his bet on them and was right: the Brigade included all units of the 116th Squadron, as well as those who had been receiving the Squadron's support for three years.

RANKS

• Ensign

Standardized rank for each newly minted agent working here. Ensigns of the 341st Wing are often sent on routine patrol missions and only under the command of a Lieutenant or Commander do they take part in major raids.

• Lieutenant

More experienced pilots of the wing, whose task is to directly train Ensigns in combat piloting skills and command them on the battlefield in the event of sorties.

• Commander

Wing Commander. His job is to manage all wing personnel and ensure that orders from 34th Brigade HQ are carried out. Typically, a wing commander is appointed as someone who has high coordination skills and sufficient tactical knowledge to conduct combat operations with maximum effectiveness.

• Commandant

The head of the entire unit, responsible for its activities in all areas of operation. Typically, a squadron has only one commanding officer, who assumes command of the other unit commanders assigned to the squadron.
