This is in response to Leeds fighting. A battle near the planet or Stokes should be conducted with -fairplay-. I think there should be a 'rules of engagement' agreement that states that all battles between the BAF and KNF should be done no closer than 5k from the station/planet to stop bad feelings on both sides, unless the side retreating is badly outnumbered. Having numbers on your side and drawing the other side into battleships is not cool...
I think it was quite fun, actually. It is entertaining to see that the skill of killing have slowly been replaced by the skill of not dieing. More importantly however, I managed to get a good deal of time flying alongside a very good friend of mine.
I didn't mind so much that the Brets ran to the Derby when shields popped, I mind the Derby being a pain in the rear end when you come close to it. I remember it being less suicidal to fight near a stationary Battleship in .84, which I found better since the thing didn't have that much of an impact as it has now. But other than that, it was quite fun. For the same reasons Sonja said. Seeing dodging and tapping a button to throw a 'Winder being more important than doing anything with guns is always amusing. Can't complain though, since overall I had a fun trip with fun RP on the way there. (Same you said for me goes for you, Sonja.)

PS: My apologizes to BAF|Roland.Gilead something... I didn't know you were chatting in private with Zapp, he shouted at me a lot after that. Again, sorry.
I'm not saying it wasn't fun. I enjoyed myself. It was, however, ridiculous to be dragged into the Derby everytime their shields dropped (hyperbole, but still...). The reason? The KNF did the same to them in a recent fight. Cycle's gotta stop somewhere.
I wasnt at this (my pc brokeded, plus it was in the AM..), but I can attest to a lot of KNF stokes hugging, in particular a [KNF] tagged gunboat making circles around it and docking before he died. I hadnt ever seen BAF run all the way to Derby, granted, ive mostly seen victories for BAF.
If we were losing, fleeing to Derby would be in practice a retreat, and dock>log would follow, but this only, shield running all the way to it is not accepted.
And yes, the power of not dying is seen as more important to the power of killing, but I dont agree that its unacceptable, especially in a big fight, perhaps its my fault, as i've always said 'You're no good to me dead, Ensign!' seeing as focus fire requires strict evasion or you'll be killed sharpish, especially against bombers.
fleet fights are unfortunately about surviving, weak links in the whole team, etc, and seeing as Zapp, Ench and various other highly skilled fighters were fighting BAF (i dunno who we had, but it'd have to be a lot of best fighters to match that), I dont blame heavy dodging, however the fleeing to the Derby is not how BAF does business outside of a full retreat.
Any nancy-boy who high-tails his custardy and beyellowed posterior to the Derby rather than charge naked at the foe will be keel-hauled and rubbed with salt and vinegar by my gunnery crews.
Remember the Somme! Especially the first twenty minutes!
BAF interceptor squadrons shall push forward and meet the treacherous Kusari invaders 5k north of the Derby from now on. Anyone refusing this order will be <strike>hung</strike> <strike>shot</strike> court-martialled.
