Hi everyone. I think it's time for the community to decide what time during the day official events will run going forward. I've tried to compile an exhaustive set of options, so please read carefully and vote for any that you prefer. I will try my best to use the top choice for all events going forward, and potentially mix things up with the second choice for more fitting event set-ups.

If you have any questions or comments about the config time, or want to argue why people should for a specific option, this is your chance. Voting will close by end of day Oct 20, at which point I'll finalize the votes.

Please note that the selected timeframe will have consequences for event balancing. These will depend on what is selected, and will involve daily limits, point caps, shorter respawns, etc.

This is a multiple choice vote, I'd urge those who pick their own timezone to also consider the "24/7" option as the safest for everyone.

This is going to be a fairly textbook example of the failings of democracy for larger choices:

If the full community votes, nothing changes because the vast majority of the playerbase is Central and Eastern Europe.
If only the community that has problems with the time vote, then it will screw over the vast majority of the playerbase, because they are Central and Eastern Europe

There isn't a right answer, voting just shifts a blame that isn't really there to the community, which will drive another wedge between the Euro players and everyone else. As if they needed more.

Personally, I believe PvP configs should be 24/7, and trade configs should be centered around the server's highest active hours, to create maximum play between hauler and interceptor.

I'll do something about my superiority complex when I cease to be superior.

As someone clearly frustrated with events frequently being run when I am asleep, setting trade events for peak hours will alienate not only myself, but all others within the Oceanic zones as well as those shift workers operating at night in the EU.

I am not a PvPer. I suck out loud at it (and have since I started playing) and usually get demolished by others who have superhuman reflexes who nail me to the wall as soon as I come into weapons range. That being said, I still enjoy trying and failing regardless.

Trade configs are more my speed and having them set for only for peak hours as Godslayer suggests isn't fair to the entire player base. Sure, us in the Oceanic region are few and far between, but we should be given the opportunity to participate in these events as well.

Lastly, sorry for lashing out about this, I'm just sick of seeing "1900 UTC" on every single event, official and otherwise, and being unable to partake in the festivities just because I have to be an adult and sleep for work.

I submitted my vote. Thanks for making an attempt to adjust the times as necessary. We'll see if it changes anything.

I've lost people who meant the world to me...and I'm still doing just fine.

I'm coming for everything they said I couldn't have.

Mostly agree with this except have the trade configs rotate, as per the 24/7 w/ rotating active hours which is what I voted for. Gives everyone a chance to participate but also provides windows for increased activity for parties in all timezones.

Careful what you wish for.
Both 8 hour and 4 hour rotating options are still awful for people with jobs and other responsibilities.
I'm guessing you aren't free to play for 9+ hours a day to be confident you'll catch that active window; all this will do is, again, exclude a decent chunk of the playerbase.

Unfortunately, all these active windows are just a solution in a search of a problem. While they will steer activity for people who are online for the majority of their day, they will simply turn off those who have limited playtime as they'll feel excluded due to no fault of their own.

Thus these active windows and other FOMO-like measures should be avoided at all costs, yet here we are.

is there a possibility to set a activ config timer for each Account? like you join the game and you have a timer ticking for like 2-4 hours after that, the activ bonus is depleted you cant get another Bonus timer until server reset?

that would atleast get everybody the chance to get some activ bonus time, maybe it can even get split for hunters or haulers

My suggestion to set trade events to high activity hours is targeted at the completely RPless powertraders, who absolutely will obliterate their own sleep schedule to only do event trading at the time when least people are online so they experience maximum money and minimal interaction. Personally, I think people who join an RP server and refuse to RP don't deserve concessions for their playstyle.

The argument for rotating or 24/7 assumes that the people will not act improperly with it, and we've been proven time and time again that they will. The quality and character of participants in trade events are low enough, I don't think they should be encouraged in any way, shape, or form.

I'll do something about my superiority complex when I cease to be superior.

There is only one way to make silent powertraders agree to play the game that everyone else is playing.

And it ain't a pretty one.

PVP focused events should be available 24/7 with no strings attached, as they by default require interaction to partake in and thus cannot be abused by logging during the dead hours.

Any event that has a trading part built into it however should only remain active during peak activity time, for reasons that have already been addressed above.
