Hey everyone! My first time here, on the forum. I started playing Discovery over the weekend and I seriously got HOOKED! Awesome mod indeed! :yahoo: I might have ran into some of you already.

I also just have 2 questions (for now) about some stuff.

1. My char is currently playing as an Independent Trader. At one point I passed other trader who got 'pulled over' by a BAF officer because he was holding Side Arms. I can't remember all the chatter but apparently only one faction is aloud to trade in Side Arms.
So my question is, how am I suppose to know what I can or can't trade? My ID doesn't give any info regarding that. Is there someway in-game I can find out what and where? (In a RP way ofcourse).
I would have thought that an Independent Trader would be aloud to trade anything legal. Not complaining, just curious what my limits are. :P

2. I've seen alot of chat about creating a new char to play a different faction. So does that mean I won't be able to go from a Trader to joining the military ranks later on with the same char?
Because I'm a big fan of RPing and i already got my story for my char as he explores Sirius. And only being able to join one faction is going to be a bit of a dead-end.
And even if I am aloud to, is it considered 'morally' right as well? Don't want to be blacklisted for changing my profession.

Anyhow, thanks again! And I hope to see you guys around the system. I'll probably be on in about 3hours, so come say hallo in the Erie's cloud...

You can join as many factions as you'd like, but of course one character can be only in one faction.

And they can be hostile to each other, why not. We're all in it for the fun, no worries, noone'll hold it back against you, and if they do, point them to me.:P

See The Laws of Sirius for information about various faction laws.

Let this also serve as a reminder to the various factions that while that thread is technically optional, it is unreasonable to expect people to know about your faction's laws if they are not either posted directly in that thread or linked in the first post. If you want people to respect what you made up, then at least make it easy for people to find it from a centralized location. Currently there are multiple law threads floating around that are not linked.

To answer this, i think you should use RL as an example: for instances, the military needs a tank moved, will they just let an independent driver move it, or will they use a company that they have often worked with and had no problems with?

Same can apply here. Also, the BAF officer might have stopped him because he was moving them to kusari, against the embargo.

As a final piece of advise, when you do encounter a lawful who says you can't carry that specific cargo, try to RP yourself out of the mess, that way he might let you pass and both of you will have had a nice experience
