Freelancer doesnt like....

Sooooo.......

I realize i have been gone for......what like 2-3 months? maybe more.....

And i saved my acct info however im sure that those characters have long since expired.....which is fine. But if i my characters are still active it would be bomb diggity....i had a behemoth super trans and had just got a scylla....when i got a uber virus....

ANyway so i upgraded to 2 gigs of ram, got my nvidia GeForce 8400 GS card, and go to install freelancer....cool no problem....until i tried to run freelancer....


Then it said my video card is not recognized blah blah blah....it crashes freelancer....so i tried running it in windows 98 in 800x600 still no luck


so then i looked on forums to no avail....except i had to downgrade my nvidia driver.....which still didnt work...



so i became frustrated and uninstalled freelancer after the 10th try to reinstall it.


With that said....can any1 help me? if ur wondering about the graphics drivers....i only installed the 32 bit drivers cuz i dont run my other games like Combat Arms and diablo 2 in 64 bit so i didnt see the need....


Thanks to any1 who can help in advance....if u have xfire u can add me MrJinpo and i do have a few vent servers for my clans in other games....anyway happy flying and i hope to be able to join u again soon

Check if bloom effects is enabled or not. I remember last time I installed it on a friends computer I got the error message because his computer could not support it.

sorry...would bloom effects be ingame, or in the nvidia control panel...because i cannot even load the game menu, it crashes as soon as it starts up

Look at the red notice at the bottom of the first post. That's your guide:

If Game wont start delete Bloom.dll + d3d8.dll + enbseries.ini -SA

Yea. Bloom effects is activated in the mod manager - if you've accidentally turned it on it won't work unless you have a proper 3d graphics card (and all the other random requirements).

I'd say it's a safe bet it's not your graphics card.

I agree, Jake. I have an Nvidia GeForce 2 (go me!) and it runs fine, if a bit slow.

Hence why I play in 16bit, with low resolution.

In any case, on both my Nvidia cards, I've had no problems with Freelancer. Try deleting the bloom, as everyone has said earlier. Should work.

Check the following:

C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Freelancer/DLLS/Bin

Check if there is anything there. If not, it would explain it. You need to replace Content.dll (Which can be found in Program Files/Freelancer Mod Manager/mods/Discovery 4.85 beta 4/DLLS/Bin

If it's not, try watching the start movie. I know this is a strange thing to do, but sometimes it works. (Just don't skip it)
