Joint Research Proposal
Esteemed colleagues of Kishiro Technologies,
The Gas Miners Guild and Kishiro Technologies share a partnership that has weathered centuries of change. From the joint financing of the Sigma-19 Jump Gate in 550 A.S. to your current role as the Guild's primary partner in H-Fuel distribution, our organizations have consistently demonstrated what can be achieved when Kusari's technological leader and the Guild's frontier expertise work in concert. Kishiro's construction of superior gas miners and your pioneering advancements in Jump Drive Technology and Jump Hole Stabilization Technology have repeatedly proven your unmatched capabilities.
It is in this spirit of proven cooperation that I approach you today with a new opportunity.
The Shinsei Clan, operating under the full authority of the Gas Miners Guild, has recently completed Phase I of a reconnaissance mission into the Copernicus system. Our initial survey has confirmed that Copernicus presents both significant strategic opportunities and considerable operational hazards. The Hirayama Cloud an arm of the Crow Nebula is rich in ionized hydrogen, helium, and oxygen. However, the system also contains explosive gas pockets, a highly radioactive asteroid belt, and other undetected dangers that make navigation extremely perilous.
Of particular concern is the Sigma-13 → Copernicus jump hole itself. The passage is unstable. Both ends are surrounded by volatile gas pockets that have already claimed the lives of experienced pilots, including the GMG exploration vessel Tsuiseki. Until comprehensive charting is completed and safe navigational corridors are established, this region remains a significant hazard to all who attempt transit.
We propose a joint research initiative.
The Shinsei Clan is prepared to fully finance a collaborative expedition into the Copernicus system. We will share all data gathered during our Phase I survey including navigational readings, wreck documentation, and preliminary resource mapping. In return, we seek Kishiro's unparalleled expertise in two critical areas:
1. Jump Hole Stabilization
Kishiro's groundbreaking work in Jump Drive Technology represents the most sophisticated understanding of rift mechanics in Sirius. Your published research on triggering and controlling jump holes in the vicinity of gravitational anomalies suggests that Kishiro possesses theoretical frameworks that could be applied to stabilizing naturally occurring phenomena like the Copernicus jump hole. We believe your developments in this field will be crucial for establishing a permanent, safe passage between Sigma-13 and Copernicus.
2. Comprehensive System Survey
Kishiro's main goal has always been research and development of new technologies and new ways to use them. We invite your scientific teams to participate directly in Phase II of our Copernicus expedition conducting detailed scans, analyzing environmental hazards, and identifying opportunities for future development. Your expertise in optronics, sensor technology, and advanced scanning equipment would be invaluable in fully mapping this uncharted system.
A Matter of Urgency
I must be frank about the timeline. Tensions between the Kusari Empire and the Republic of Liberty are escalating rapidly, and the situation in Galileo grows more volatile by the day. We need to carry out this operation before the situation deteriorates into a full-scale war. Once hostilities commence in earnest, travel restrictions, military blockades, and shifting political priorities will make any joint venture of this nature nearly impossible to coordinate. This may be our only chance to secure a foothold in Copernicus and establish a stable passage before the sector descends into chaos. We should carry out this operation as soon as possible time is a luxury we do not possess.
The Shinsei Clan is prepared to cover all operational costs associated with this expedition. We will provide security escorts, heavy-lift transport, and logistical coordination. Kishiro's contribution would be purely scientific and technical your researchers, your equipment, and your expertise.
Looking beyond the immediate survey, successful stabilization of the Copernicus jump hole could open entirely new possibilities for both our organizations. The system's resource wealth, once safely accessible, could represent a significant expansion of GMG operations and Kishiro would be positioned as our preferred partner in any future development.
This is not merely a contract. It is an invitation to extend our centuries-long partnership into an unexplored frontier, to combine Kishiro's technological brilliance with the Guild's frontier experience, and to shape the future of the Sigma Border Worlds together.
I eagerly await your response and the opportunity to discuss this proposal in greater detail.
With respect and anticipation,
Katsuhiro Shinsei
