Would be great if you could trigger it for cruising.
Absolutely brilliant m8. I'm thinking X-wing style - "Lock the S foils" meaning keep the wings together for cruising.
Then possibly we could stop the guns from firing while the wings change back into position? That way it could seem that the weapons have to charge again..
I always found it kind of strange how you could just stop the cruise engines and your weapons have full power.. if the cruise engines take so much power that you can't fire, shouldn't it take a few to get them back up?
I thought the retractable wings were cut out of the final edit, but where included in early gameplay trailers. While it would be brilliant, and Liberty would benefit a lot style wise since all their fighters have retractable wings, it would just look cool in general.
A problem in the game engine now though is getting guns to fold in too and not fire. I'm not sure if its easy to code in or not though.
there is as much reason for them to instantly have energy as the need to recharge them. - whats more important is - only vanilla ships have this feature.
and we just managed to get rid of the hardcoded difference between vanilla and custom ships.
folding wings and moving parts - other than a slowly rotating satelite dish - are nice.... the first, second, third time .... after the tenth time, you simply ignore it.
or may i ask you.... do you have the nice transition scripts turned on and always wait for them to finish? - or have you turned the transition scripts off so you can interact with the NPCs on a station more quickly.
animated parts is basicly the same. - when you got the game, i am CERTAIN, you had the transition scripts on, cause it was neat to see the camera move through the architecture or trent enter the bar and look around. - but after the tenth time, you simply switched them off.
It isn't really like that jinx.. when I'm playing any of the Rogue Squadron games, I don't go 'oh I hate these stupid S-foils!' after playing it for ages.
Having such a nifty feature on the thing you are going to be looking at for most of the time as you play the game is alot different to waiting for the camera to wander it's way to the equipment dealer.
