Introduction
I'm flying through the omicron gamma system in my Titan with my lovely new setup for maximum killing speed. I have my shiny nuclear mines in my hold and the best shield I can find. Then I encounter TWO bounty hunters guild heavy fighters and it takes about 5 minutes to bring them down!

The BHG Problem
Did you know that it takes two people in a titan to complete one easy mission in the omicron gamma system? Did you also know that the only available missions there are against the BHG?

The overpoweredness of the BHG is really making it hard on people entering the corsair areas of space. Does the order have this problem? No, they do not. The order get to fight the Liberty Navy OR BHG and their missions are much easier.

Isnt this a little strange to anyone? The BHG are significantly stronger than the "bad faction" in any other region. In every other part of Sirius (I've been to basically everywhere) the "bad faction" can be overpowered with the local ships. This is the only place I've seen yet that this does not apply to.

Solution
Tone down the BGH NPCs! There are 3 ways I can see this working.

1. They need to repair their armor less often. They are the most armor-repairing NPCs ive ever seen in Freelancer. And yet they don't even drop that many nanobots.

2. Make them drop more nanobots, one titan BARELY is unable to complete the average gamma mission. A little more repair capability would solve this.

3. Reduce the number of them in omicron gamma in general. One move into the malvada cloud gets you surrounded by 8-12 of them pretty quickly. You end up investing the same time you would in a mission for no pay if you escape.

Notice I did not say to reduce their equipment. That would be out of role play and generally unfair and unrealistic. That would be saying "my guns arent as big as yours so you need smaller guns". The problem is that our guns are as big or bigger than theirs, but they still can't kill them reliably.

The only thing meaner than BHG NPCs are Corsair NPCs.

Those things are insanely brutal.

You would be surprised... MOAR 'SAIR PWN!!!

I do agree that missions need to:
(A) Give more money, or
(B) Be much, much easier

Come on! Be free!

Phew I thought this was going to be about players.

The Corsair npc's turn up in Kappa and, my favourite, in Osiris patrols in Delta. Not a problem when server is very busy. A pain when of a early morning one decides to survey one's domain. Ooh, Order patrols in Delta by the minor JH are super nasty, especially if you are in something that can't dodge.

I sympathise. Improvise.

Ask yourself this. Are you a tough hombre or would you like a red carpet on your path to intergalactic infamy?

i'm a tough hombre, i just think it is a little ridiculous...i mean how many BHG are there? They spend all day suiciding space stations.

I dont think there is an actual cap on the number of NPC's.

Maybe it's just you. Have you flossed? Seriously though, the mechanics of the game go beyond the realms of the imagination sometimes.....like how many bases have been destroyed in all the missions ever done by players..but look closely - they have names, these NPC's. I do occasionally patrol with npc's, which is weird, I know, but instructive. They actually do spend time floating around doing nothing. No wonder they get all excited when you turn up.

NPCs are people too.

Maybe not in Gamma.

Pop into Omega 49 through the Dublin hole sometime. For added fun, do it in a Werewolf.

Well, these are the Edge Worlds, aren't they?
That means harsh conditions for everyone in this region of space.
And I agree that you are surrounded the same way in other systems by corsairs or outcasts.
Thats the live in the edge wordls ^^

I saw this title and I was like Athenian, thinking, oh, crap, what's going on now...

Seriously - go take a 'high dollar' mission from Rostock Station - maybe one that pays 500K, against Corsairs. Then when 4 or 5 Osiris' come up in your face and quickly pulverize you... :)

Out in Delta, 4 NPC Corsairs in Titans are a major threat to a Battlecruiser if you're not careful. They'll rape your shield right off of you. And of course, when you're out flying around, and happen to get two Osiris patrols to spawn near you - that's ALSO quite lovely... I think nothing beats trying to get down to Gran Canaria from Dublin, though. We've had fighters and bombers trapped down there because the 12 NPC Corsair patrols jump all over them. It's quite discouraging to get blown up 6 times in a row by NPC's, just while you're trying to leave a system.

As far as fighting in Gamma - who else WOULD you fight? There should be no other NPC faction out there FOR you to fight other than Hunters.

NPC's are such characters, aren't they? They do so love to make your life miserable if possible. Welcome to the Edge worlds - that's what makes it fun and exciting.
