Problem with activation

Okay, so I have Freelancer installed, have the CD in, and deactivated 4.84. But when I try to activate 4.85, it says:
Error: FLMM has determined that 'DiscoveryMod v4.85 won't properly activate.

This was only the test run, so no files were changed (besides being decompressed).
Look in the log for more details.

Help?

Try re-installing FL (after backing up characters and such via Freelancer Account Manager). After that... what operating system do you have? If you have Vista, you will need to start FLMM with the "Run as Administrator" option. On that note, what version of FLMM do you have? 1.3 is the most stable, if you don't have that version I suggest trying to activate the mod with it before anything else.

I'm reinstalling it right now, and I have Windows XP. And I have FLMM 1.3. Let's see the outcome.

Update:
Damn! Still don't work!
Should I re-download the mod? (Because I got the mod before reinstalling it.)

Update: Just tried that. Still doesn't work. *sigh* I don't know what to do.

Sorry for double-post but:
There's one last thing to do- reinstall FLMM. If that doesn't work, then I give up. I hate solving technical problems

Post a screen shot of the FLMM log window area when the problem happens. It'll be easy to fix...

Now for some questions:
- Are you running Vista?
- Are you running in an administrator account or a standard user account?

In general you probably need to do this:
1. When opening Freelancer Mod Manager to activate mod do not double click or click from start menu, rather right click the item and select Run as Administrator (this is the critical step!!)
2. If you see any other discovery mod versions in FLMM, click the delete button.
3. Click "restore backups" in FLMM.
4. Then double click on the downloaded discovery485.zip.flmod file to load it into FLMM.
5. Now try to activate the mod.

If any of these steps fail then post another screen shot of the failure.

And when you try to run Freelancer, you need to be running Freelancer as administrator.
When you click the normal Freelancer shortcut -- right click it and select "Run as administrator"

I have Windows XP.
I'm an administrator.

I'll try your instructions. Thank you for all your help, Cannon.

(If I'm one of the computer administrators, do I need to do step 1?)

The screen shot suggests that your copy of Freelancer is corrupt. My instructions apply only to Vista.

In your case:
1. From FLMM restore backups
2. Uninstall your copy of Freelancer.
3. Reinstall Freelanc erfrom the CD.
4. Activate the mod.

...should work. If any step fails post another screen shot.

I just noticed that I skipped step 3 in your previous, previous post. Maybe that's the problem. I'm starting the whole thing over again. Let's see how it goes.

Ok... doesn't work, I'll try the latter instructions.

Activating the mod failed.
Here's the screenshot.

By the way, Cannon, do you have Skype? Because, I need to talk to you privately.

Edit: Acutally only 1 is missing, just couldn't read properly:D

In a brilliant tactical movement, i charged backwards.
