There's only so many times I can yell at my Rogues for leading lawfuls back to our bases. However the problem exists on both sides. What brought this up, of course, is this:
http://img132.imageshack.us/i/lpiswarm.jpg/
which was forwarded to me today. I'll be talking to Chris about leading lawfuls back to our bases when I see him, but either way there is no excuse.

You know where the unlawful bases are.

You know it's the only place a pirate has to run.

Your blue message is not that important, if a pirate is running back to base you've won.

stop chasing us back to our bases.

They are supposed to be hidden, and it doesn't help Roleplay at all when three LPI (Offical faction members, no less) and three vigilantes won't give up chasing a single pirate for that blue message.

Remember, our bases are supposed to be just as heavily guarded as lawful bases. He have a Destroyer docked on Alcatraz and there is a [HF] Osiris cloaked outside it. In RP there's just no way a police squad would get anywhere near our bases in one piece. You don't like us doing it to you, we don't like you doing it to us. The difference is we don't have convenient bases we can flee to when we're loosing a fight. We have to shake our pursuers first, which can be exceedingly difficult.

So here's my request to the community: Respect our bases, if a pirate is retreating, let them be. They've lost already anyway. We discourage this kind of behaviour in the LR- and we hope that the LPI, LN and BHG would be gracious enough to do the same.

well - i do mostly kusari BHG stuff as kusari GM - but i d be glad if you provided the BHG| with screens that any official BHG| chased you to one of your bases. - at the same time, i d of course ask for evidence that there was an intention to actually log out / leave the system for 4 hours ( due to the retreat rule )

often enough - players ( official & unofficial alike ) do not respect the retreat. - they pull back and continue talking, taunting etc. - when they "should" simply and quietly LEAVE the system ***on the fastest way possible***.

they come up with the most obscure explanations why they don t leave.

anyway - if BHG| players chase you to your bases and it is a totally unfounded and ooRP matter - i am sure we can discuss it in the faction and find a solution that suits everyone. but like every case of accusations - i believe in the innocence of the accused unless prove is provided.

This is not meant offensive, but there seems to be a lack of qualified leadership, when things like this happen.

It would be enough that the leader of such a squad would order his comrades to fall back, that's why they are called 'leaders'. Some better RP skills should be required for gaining ranks, shouldn't they? Just think a moment before you chase a single unlawful deep into a nebula or other kinds of dangerous areas. Dozens of pirate vessels could be hidden there.

Anyways... Nighthawk: /signed.

In my experience, I have only managed to flee 5 times in total, yes 5 times since I came to disco... I understand your plight about not being allowed to flee. If someone has managed to engage cruise when against me and gets 2k distance I let them go. Wish it was the same from unlawfuls.

The thing with that Rayne is us unlawfuls aren't going to let some traders go if they start cruising away. And if lawfuls run from me I normally let them go, can't say anything for every other unlawful but thats just what I do.

[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.

Anyway you cut it, it's not an excuse to follow a pirate to their base. They indeed may refuse to log off or leave the system, but as you said, innocence until proven guilty. You also harm the entire factions' roleplay when you follow a pirate back to their base. Imagine what those LPI officers are gonna say after coming that close to Alcatraz?
Don't get me wrong, we beat any Rogue who leads a lawful back. But I'd ask that other factions do the same.

I don't have many screenshots as I'm rather in-active in game due to computer/connectivity troubles, and this influx has only happened recently with in the last few weeks. However I do have one screenshot of a BHG| Gunship outside Buffalo. Apparently neutral to it as well, as he flew right passed without it taking a shot at him. It was over a month ago, so may not be relevant now, but if you wish to see it I can upload it. (I'm just glad he didn't shoot my Bloodhound >_>)

I think you misunderstand the point of the topic. As LR- we encourage our members to flee, we are not soldiers, we are pirates. However, recently there has been an increase of cases where lawfuls are chasing us right back to our bases, and often camping outside them after their target has docked and logged off.
The problem is we have no where to flee, because lawfuls simply refuse to break off, and leading them back to our bases is extremely wrong.

I never chased a lawful down. Only a Trader who was running, but normally i let the Cop run away. Even when they are only thrusting. i dont really enjoy fighting, so i only do it in selfdefense or i have an RP-Reason.

I had a Bounty Hunter Chasing me to the Drunken Codger in my young Rogue days, and in RP the Hunter would have been blown up in seconds. And so would it been near normal Rogue Stations.

BHG is the lone exception. We can not only follow pirates to their bases, we can also go there to look for wanted pirates. We know where the bases are, but we're never ever telling anyone else. Militaries shouldn't pursue with large capitals (risk of losing them in the field due to collision or bomber ambush) and house police shouldn't pursue in the fields, or far away anywhere (as you said, their job is done when commerce, civilians or whoever they're protecting is safe).

House security forces are a bit of a grey area. But in general terms, it always applies that the ZoI size is
Police < Military < Bounty Hunters

According to original Freelancer neuralnet data.

Pirate bases have enough defense capabiities now, so it is your job to blow the bounty hunter in seconds, actually. Or dock and let the turrets do it. I seriously doubt that a large number of BHG ships would waste their time camping a pirate base when they can't get any bounties there - we're in it for the money.

Edit: also there's this funny thing that bases increase their refire rate acording to the number of ships within range which creates epic shieldfails of enemy capital ships and slow fighters / bombers.

That's all very good and well. But I've had reports from my underlings that after said BHG have followed said pirate to the base, and said pirate has docked, said BHG camps said base and later I get complaints about more BHG camping our bases. I know that BHG are very well informed about the locations of our bases, but it should still not be encouraged to behave this way at all. There's really no excuse for it.
Pirates are just as bad, but any LR- that gets caught doing it gets slapped upside the head. We kicked an LR- member out a wee while ago for participating in such mayhem, and refusing to stop.

That's awesome. No wonder Isis attacks so fast...
