Armor upgrades should be rare, but most ships have an armor upgrade.

If the upgrade is vulnerable, it would cost alot to repair, so that could be a mechanism.

Make it like the Cheetah thruster. I sold it, because it sucks so much credits, that it wasnt worth it.

Why not the same way for the armor upgrades, especially the Cap armor upgrade? If we do, the upgrades become so expensive, that a lot of people will sell it.

Then we have, like it should be: Most ships havent any upgrade, only few. And a Cap 8 armor upgrade will become very rare.

What's the point of having an upgrade if it's bad?

It would only make the game even more unbalanced in my opinion as only the most rich players could get the good upgrades and the others would get totally owned.

Isn't that right?

If you got a problem with cruisers being too strong because of the armor upgrades, just look my topic in Mod genera discussion about the mod (the one aboot cruisers, not the one to reduce the prices)

If you are going to have this then we might as well take them out of the game.

Just another way to give combat advantage to Capwhoring powertraders,

The point is:

If your ship eats radiation damage, armor should eat damage too. I was flying at 2,3 distance to the O41 pulsar, and after landing on the next station, all was damaged, except the armor. Thats odd.

Yeh, but think, you spend 100 mil on a cap armour upgrade, only to have it poofed away by radiation or having it blown away by some Missile spamming BS.

What a waste of money

It should NOT be destroyable, but able to be damaged by radiation fields or neutron stars

So it being damaged weakens the multiplyer, sounds ok.

I say scrap armour upgrades all together, raise ship prices a bit and re-balance ships hitpoints to what they would be with good armour.

But as per your idea, I say no, would just cause more suicides.

So it isnt bad enough that I had to spend thirty times more on my ship and weapons than a bomber pilot does, but you want me to have to spend more just so I can survive against that bomber pilot?

Sorry, but no. Caps are expensive enough as is.
