Ive a spot o knoledge on how to use Gmax, and i might be wanting to redo some of the less freelancerish models in Discovery ( the albatross for instance), Before i start on any models id kinda like to know about what formats id need to deal with and some of the engine limitations ( max number of polygons, the maximum texture size, and some knoledge on how the textures work, ive noticed multitexture on most of the ships ( its what makes em shiny).

There's one compilation thread at TLR that may answer a lot of questions, same goes for modding most things in FL. I remember one of the tutorials was explaining how to make the models behave completely like the Vanilla ones (ie multiple parts, destroyable parts, damage multipliers, custom hitboxes, hardpoints, everything).

Maybe we can finally loose the curse of non-Vanilla models.

The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor

Having Vanilla-like imported ships would be cool.
All the imported ships lack the wireframe. And some of the new ships, like the taidaan bomber, have bad looking textures, or parts of the ships that should be a structure and are instead painted on the textures.

It would be nice if i might add, if the ships could be made more realistice and fix all the things korrd said was wrong with them.
