I have a horrible habit of changing windows while in formation, to check my mail or change songs I'm listening to, and I'll look back to see I've run into a planet.

Whenever a person your formed up with docks or leaves formations, you just keep going, no matter where you are, so when they dock with a planet, you just keep flying forward into the planet unless you're able to stop in time.

Would there be any way to have it so your ship stopped immediately after a formation leader docks? I know it would help me quite a bit, and it does seem unrealistic that your ship would allow you to just keep flying straight into the planet unintentionally.

Opinions?

We've finally found the reason for all the battleship patrols crashing into manhattan. The pilots were looking at porn videos on google.

There are currently no ingame mechanics that will perform your requested actions.

How about not switching screens? "lol"
Or getting a dual screen? (dunno if it works on one screen while looking at another.)
(Research synergy and dual screen)

So there's mechanics to speed up your ship when joining formation, but not to slow it down when leaving?

my advice get X-Fire

it has a in-game browser, and the transparacy is adjustable,
so you can play and browse at the same time witouth needing to alt-tab/switch screens
