So with my cap ships I actually like to "copy" the weapons outline of the npc's; atleast the weapons.
Now, I did this with my Osiris and the Isis down to everything, except the Isis has a light mortar eqquiped. Light mortars are only available for Cruisers, and for Battleship's there are mortars and heavy mortars.
Now I think I "recall" the Isis having a mortar/heavy mortar and a bit different weapons array including a missile launcher.
But now that that changed, how is it possible for an npc BS to have cruiser weaponry?
Is this even a bug?
Here's the shot I took:
So yes, due to my OCD-ness paranoia, I decided to replace this with a Mortar, as a Heavy Mortar takes way too much energy for an Osiris to fire it effectively.
Oh, and I also recommend changing the light mortar to a normal mortar once the chance arises for it to make more sence.
NPCs and bases use infinite power supplies. So giving it a Mortar or Heavy Mortar would allow for continuous firing of it, pumping out more damage than it should ever do. LM balances that out a bit.
Tehy changed it cause to much BHg caps whined about dieing to fast next to Isis heavy morta. Sometimes it shoots 3 times per second but this is a bug. Well so they changed it to a LM so BHg caps have a bit of a chance near the Isis.
By the way, Missile Launcher has way too large range, you can't see the missile until it hits you. Taking in consideration that it's a battleship missile, it hurts. I saw a few guys getting slain by the Invisible Isis Missile. In next betas missiles were taken off the stationary BSes though.
Actually, I believe a fair bit of whining came from the Order Light Carriers who decided to hide from the Bounty Hunter Bomberswarm next to the Isis and got quite literally raped by friendly fire.
Keep in mind, Isis is the only stationary BS I'm aware of with ANY Mortar. There might be a few others, but the majority of the stationary BSs do not use mortars. They've got primary and secondary turrets, BRs, and pulses, but no Mortars.
Stationary bases increase their rate of fire as more players gather around it. I dont know how the scale works, but I do know that if you gather 15 people around a base and someone sets it off the barrages it send out are very intimidating.
I was once by the Missouri in a cluster of about 15-20 people when a Rogue came down the tradelane
I think it was firing battlerazors at about 5.88, let alone its other weapons.
