wouldn't it be a great idea to make guard IFF's attainable only by flying a long time with certain ID's, this would indicate you are a senior and dedicated member of the faction and earned the trust to fly their big expensive ships

I'd like that, but that is more or less how they are now. I mean yeah you CAN just spam missions for ~3 hours, but on the whole, for me at least, it's just something that happens gradually. But yeah i think if it was based on ID/playtime it would be pretty cool.
Would let you recognise dedicated indies too.

Definitely a great idea, would be great if it were implemented into Disco.
We could even maybe have a 3rd ID after that? I dont know, Officer ID? For the really dedicated?

Then people would leave their computer on and waste server space.

Which is... bad.

How did we come to this? Whenever an good RP justifiable idea comes up we instantly presume that abuse will happen. If there are losers willing to do such an thing I'm certain a solution will be provided for them, hence making them an example for anyone else who ever comes up with similar idea.

Anyone remember "suicide routes"?

the path to hell is paved with good intentions!

Guard IDs did not restrict caps any more than the original system. It was just a sad way to try to, which is impossible because people will get the biggest and best ship their is... There is no reason this will.

I just thing the IFF should say "Guard", so you know if someone has a guard tag from a distance.

For example, my carrier has a guard tag, but currently anyone targeting it just sees 'Order - Bastet'. It'd be nice if they saw 'Order Guard - Bastet'

Base idling, yes. In space, no.

At least, that how it works for me when I go to make coffee then get distracted by something shiny.
