How can the liberty carrier carry ships in its bay? I believe we don't have that technology on this server. So getting it appears pointless.

Anyway, why not make player ships moorable/dockable? I know one server managed to do it, I'm not going to scream out the name, thats I believe against the rules here and there, and I'm not too sure. But yeah devs maybe ask them out? I don;t know, but sounds like a good thing...

Making player ships dockable is possible.

However problems arise if the ship you docked on logs off, then you crash the server if you try and launch apparently.

Would it be possible to force all players docked to quit to the main menu.

A message like "You will be kicked - No ship to launch from"

It is possible, but there are problems. Like mb52 said, if the person logs off. What if the person dies?

That could work.

Somehow i must think of Starwars, do you remember how all the little rebell alliance fighters flew aside their bigships into battle, they werent dock, cause they didnt need to.
all got their own little hyperdrive.
No in freelancer, all the little ships can go through jumpholes and gates, and fly long distances, so a Carrier is not nessesary. They need bases cause pilots need to stretch out from time to time, and eventually refule.
They can do that on battleships.
Besidedes the liberty carrier is ugly and the monster of lagg.

How abaut making cariers have special shielding ability which would generate shield up to 100m from carrier and would act as normal shield just that friendly ships would be reqierd to type special code set by carier owner to enter shielded area. It would alow fighters to regenerate their shield behind sefe shielded area.
Carier couldnt fire while having special shield up.And enimies couldnt fly into shielded area because they wouldnt have special pass code.

How abaut that? Would it be possible?

Dockable player ships are easily possible.
Have been done before and work.

There are zero problems with it. If the carrier logs off, the docked player launches from their last base or whatever, that can be changed.

So why not just if carrier dies or logs off, it automatically blows up, and scrambles all fighters, or just scramble all ships without blowing up, or just everyone dies? It is after all a fleet asset and not individual.
