Quote:OOC: History has shown Corsairs are a very difficult faction to keep going, and I think we're seeing why.... the Titan has many vulnerabilities, like wings easily falling off and losing nearly all your equipment. We shall need to talk to the designers I reckon....
Now i post this because it is true. If we could posabaly get a new type of Corsair fighter/ bommer in the next 3 or 4 edition of Discovery than that would be great. But if no one will accept this chalange than can some one send some one post were i could get a program that could design this ship, and give me some advice on what im doing, please any thing would be good.

Even though i despise my wings falling off, I think it would be best to leave the vannila ships as they are. Possibly make the components stronger for the vanilla fighters (wings, tail, various fins) so they dont fall off as easily, but i dont think a new fighter would be the right way to go.

my 2p.

I don't know about you guys, but I have flown the Titan prior to disco, and I think that it is still one of the best fighters in the game even with the disco mod.

I don't think that the 'sairs need another fighter anytime soon, as the titan is very much adequate.

Tell you what Corsairs do need though...

A mk II legionnaire

possibly named "Optio" after the second in command of a century?

Yeah, leave the Corsair vanila ships.. though a Corsair LF would be cool.

The Kusari HF is the most annoying ship to lose bits on IMO.. if you lose the rear fin, you've just lost your shield, mine and countermeasure... Which can be very expencive.

This is my signature.

Corsair ships tend to have a very specific look to them. Though, maybe if one of the Homeworld races could do with some Corsair look to them, maybe those could be added to the Corsair ranks. The Turanic Raider craft are probably too blocky. I'd have to see what people have done with respect to a Corsair Freighter, though, to be sure. But the vanilla Corsair ships... they tend to have a very distinct look to them- much like the Border World fighters do (my Acolyte has been recommended as being their Bomber). The Taiidan may fit them. But I'm not sure right now. Maybe I really should use the Corsairs for the Turanics. Though they really should have some semblance of a tiger stripe pattern.

Blegh. Anyway, all that can be discussed in the appropriate thread. Suggestions on what FL vanilla ship set fits each HW race would be appreciated.

Currently: Remastering Kiith Somtaaw's Acolyte Fighter. These Homeworld ships need some Sirius work done on them. ^.-

Quote:Well, it is pretty hard to hit the Kusair VHF in the first place...

And a Mk 2 Legionnaire would be great.

Idea recinded after further consideration.

the MK II Legionaire you guys are talking about is going to be even worse target than the 'nearly unhittable Slipstream'.
Also, a fight between a Titan and a Sabre with similarly skilled pilots proved to be quite an equal fight.

When will the people stop asking Igiss to add new uberunbalanced ships?

@Night I'll defer to your wisdom here, since you've done alot more Sabre v. Titan PvP than I have.

However I do know about fighting NPCs.... and it's *alot* easier to take the wings off a Titan than a sabre. The wings are blown off the Titan as a matter of course even if you haven't targeted them, since they stick out so much.... and *bam* there goes 2 guns. Similarly with the huge tail fin, and there goes a turret and your thruster -- screwed city.

As opposed to a Sabre, which actually has four wings. It's difficult to take them off even when targetted (although ironically the little ones are easier), since they are much smaller and your gunfire seems to pass thru the "hole"... and even when you do it's only 1 gun lost.

I'm not trying to create an argument here, and if you say players are evenly matched in S v. T then I will take your word for it. Maybe they both need some work???

ps. I love the idea of MkII LF.... wouldn't it just be an upgraded copy of Legionnaire? What's the problem?

Actually, Night has a good point there. I rescind my past voicing. The Legionnaire is extremely hard to hit when one is charging at the ship. Its turn rate is also pretty good, so virtually the only times you can hit the thing is cut down as well.

The Legionnaire is completely flat. If it were long as it were flat, like a pancake, then I think that people would like it more. Thing is, it isn't like a pancake, but more like a french toast stick that was cut up into 3 layers, and one of those layers is the equivalent of a legionnaire.

Against skilled pilots, the Titan is an even match for the Sabre due to the fact that it has more forward FP. the Sabre has 5 forward guns, and 2 turrets. Yes, this is technically an advantage, but one can't exactly mount coladas, codies, or cannonballs on turrets.

Like I said before, the titan is fine, and compounded by the fact that the 'sairs have insane guns, its great, as long as your opponent RPs.
