I've been thinking (always a bad sign I know). I ran a bit of search and could not find this proposed yet. Although I'm sure this has been presented already...

Is it possible to have "traders" in systems only having the Jump holes? It would open up a whole new level for NPC usage. One way to have pseudo-routes is to make the ship convoys as patrols. No clear destination and as such not really like regular house traders, but would bring a lot of realism to those systems.

Also imagine Smuggler IDed (or OC IDed) cardi haulers out at the badlands.

I'll use Gamma and Corsairs to illustrate. Corsair affiliated traders would bring in food (and Corsair's enemies would have bit more immersive reason to be there in raiding them).

I know this is open to some sort of abuse by supposed allies to steal the NPCs cargo and take it to big profit destination. But I'd imagine someone caught doing this should expect pretty swift reprisals. One trick to minimize this would be to make the pirate traders haul only low value commodities like water, food etc.

As it is Disco currently lacks any kind of outlaw "traders" that are supposedly keeping the base going. It's mentioned in a lot of bar conversations that "we get our supplies from x" but there's no evidence of it.

Anyway, I haven't thought this really through. I'm just throwing an idea for the collective think-tank.

Flying under radar.

There are already Junker NPC's that fly about in CSV's with 99,999 units of cardamine, as well as other less interesting comoditys.

I think Ive also seen LR Mules flying in a similar fashion with some NPC fighter escorts. Same setup as the Zoner Dromedrys out near freeports.

Thing with the Cardimine, is that it's supposed to be the Outcasts hauling it. The Outcasts ship it to Buffalo, where the Rogues do the dangerous leg to Rochester. Just stick Cardimine on Outcast NPCs.

I'd support NPC Feelancer freighters though. I'd rather not have transports though.

That's true about the Mules. I totally forgot about them. But anywhere else? I have a hazy recollection of Mollys flying around in Mules too, but I can't be sure. The Hessians, OC, Corsairs the other what their suppliers too.

I also think that NPCs (non-company ones) should fly only upto freighters. They are supposed to me small time haulers compared to the house shippers.

Flying under radar.

Well I'd certainly like to see more smugglers. Not just in Liberty but in all the houses.

I mean, I've never seen a smuggler... NPC...

The Zoner NPCs sometimes smuggle artifacts.

I remember because some Banshees shoved a massive amount of Plasma and Tachyon up their tailpipes when they scanned them.

The ID thing is not right, as NPCs don't carry IDs, only Light Tractor Beams.

The Junkers are the ones who transport the majority of Cardamine to Liberty and also, at times, just bypass the Rogues. The Outcasts do a lot of the smuggler but not as much as the Junkers.

And yes, more unlawful/indie trader NPCs. Would be a fun (if slightly useless) addition to the server.

This is another thing that should be added.
