Depends on what you prefer really
Baset has All Level 10 guns and slightly turns better but has less armor.
Nempy has more armor and a bigger powerplant. Has the standard VHF kit, 2 Class 9 and 4 Class 10.

I've flown both, and I even flew the "Bastet" back when it was called the "talon" and had a horrible model. That said, the Nephthys is probably a better all-around combat ship - it has more energy to fire weapons, more armor, similar manuverability, and from what I can tell a smaller profile from the front and back.

I fly the Bastet right now, but mostly because of it's name... my carrier is named the Bastet, and I just like Bastet in general =P

The only real advantage the Bastet has is 6 class 10 gun slots, meaning you can use 4 codes and 2 nomad blasters, or 6 codes, or 4 codes and 2 class 10 missiles, so on and so forth. It gives the option for extremely high burst damage - the problem is that with 6 class 10 guns, you'll run out of energy before you know what happened. The Bastet has a very weak power core in that regard... it does have slightly better turning than the Nephthys, but due to the difference in size it doesnt really make any noticable impact on combat.
