Now I know all of you have been through it. You installed the mod and one way or another you eventually created a Gallic character to find out that Gallia was a baron wasteland. You haven't been back since as it's declined in activity more so as time has progressed. Now if Im in the ballpark there than you will also feel it's a shame that so much creativity and effort should be wasted until the next mod release.

So here i'm brainstorming ways of opening up Gallia and all of it's factions. In this first thread i'l post a few ideas that have been swimming around in my noggin for a while that might just make sense. This thread is also open to everyone else's ideas cos Im trying to collect a pool of possible ways to get Gallia alive and kicking.

Ok here goes.

The problem with Gallia at the moment is that it's so damn isolationist, and in order to open it up were going to inevitably bend or break this rule in one way or another.

Idea 1: Royalists and Outcasts

Now come to think of it this idea doesn't seem that absurd. The Hispanic house is torn in two in can what only be described as civil war, sound familiar? The Outcasts are envious over the other four lawful houses of Sirius and so are grudgingly trying to "rot" each house from the inside out with their Cardamine industry, sound familiar? The Royalists of Gallia are currently putting their conquest plans on hold because their civil war as well as other pirate adversaries are too much of a problem to deal with alongside a second war with the rest of humanity, sound familiar? The Royalists hate the Council, The Outcasts hate the Council, I think the numerous similarities have proven my point. Yes, ok, the Royalists hate all other sleepers that left them behind yadda yadda yadda. But if you think about it, the Outcasts are really just a band of greedy crime lords with an enormous arsenal and unlimited funding. They have the potential to be a civilized house but choose to be segregated like a jumble of envious rebels, and always will be (..because of the reduced birth rate their numbers will never increase). The Outcasts naturally will see an advantageous alliance with another faction that's hates everything lawful in the world that they know.

In terms of activity, the upside will be that some of the massive activity amongst players in the outcasts will be transferred to the Gallic Royalists. The down side is that the already most popular pirates in sirius will become even more popular.

Idea 2: The Junkers get the Boot

Well, it's been mentioned, but the diplomatic consequences that would result in such a thing happening haven't been totally explained. We all know that the junkers are a bunch of two timing buggers and that's what's kept them alive. Their not a massive faction, but big enough so that if the Corsairs made a move against them then they'd fall straight into the arms of the Outcasts becoming a larger threat. The same thing applies here, if the Gallians were stupid enough to boot the Junkers out of Burgundy and Lorraine then they'd be a massive threat to their isolationism with all their connections. They'd go straight to the Council, Sirius, and all their allies. Then Bourg en Bresse would become the biggest pain in the Royalists back side since the loss of Marne.

Idea 3: Vive la Revolucion!

Ok, basically, the Council gains an upper hand. The Royalists get their asses handed to them and it's bye bye Burgundy for the King's Cats. It would seem logical as most of the Gallic tradin companies are now looking into getting their goods out of Gallia. With the motive of high profit that comes with trade into the wider world, who's to blame them? Naturally they tend to favor the Council that little bit more; or perhaps they take a side with them spawning an even bigger pain in the Royalists back side since Bourg en Bresse! We all know that in the new mod one side is going to gain a base here and a planet there but nobody can be certain as to which. But this idea still is quite an extreme option to getting more players into Gallia.

Idea 4: Reinforcements

It's on the tip of everyone's tongue. An official alliance between the Council and a Sirius house or faction. The Council agrees to export commodities and naturally the Sirius House/Faction doesn't want to be conquered by some angry Frenchmen and joins the fight. The most probable faction(s) i see getting stuck in the trenches are the Colonial Remnant: Their the closest faction to Council space in Languedoc and a pretty much on Gallia's doorstep. The IMG: Even though the Bretonia, Kusari war rages on, the IMG; who were substantial in the war kicking off in the first place; are just sitting by and watching the fireworks. They don't seem to be getting stuck in much and aren't that motivated to get fighting in the thick of it. It's reasonable that they may want to lend a hand, but after all, they are miners... Kusari: Probably the most available house that's occupied by war at the moment. Their winning in Bretonia and have Leeds on its knees so it's logical that they may spare a few men to assist in the fight. Junkers: See "The Junkers get the Boot" That's all I can think of for now but feel free to add if you have any further suggestions.

Alright I'm all thought out. No more ideas for now.

What are your thoughts?

A jumphole opens up from New York to Burgundy.
That will increase the activity a lot, trust me.

Outcast alliance will not work. Outcast are pseudo-allied with Nomads, who want to conquer Sirius. They cannot also be allied with GRN, who want to conquer Sirius...

Well, any idea sounds great at the moment. Any thing to liven the space.

Currently I see Gallic space as a FAIL. It is hardly used. Chars are restricted and interaction of rp is a mine field at the moment.

To be honest, Gallic does not even exist in my opinion. Traders go up their pick up trade and come back and thats about all that happens up there.

I agree a serious rethink on what is to be done with that zone is needed in order to move it along. Then again. we hardly have enough players to do some of the main houses. Now we have another house for players to fill.

*shrugs* Ideas????

Mine, is allow the Junkers passage, it should make things interesting on the political fall out. Junkers have always been kicked around. Now they have a house area were they are accepted by a house system. It would give junkers more weight.

Ideas??? anyone.

On a more serious note, I really do think that Gallia needs to be connected to the other Houses directly if it ever is meant to have activity equalling them.
They are just too damned far away for 90% of the server to interact with.

The Outcast idea could work. Who told you the Outcasts are even remotely interested in allying with those evil creatures that want to kill us and how would the GRN know about it, even if it was true? I counter those slanderous lies!

Ahem.

The first idea seems like the easiest idea to implement. But, won't it just lead to Outcasts being in Gallia instead of more actually Gallic players?

1.) GRN wants to bring pain to every faction in the Sirius Sector, especially the Outcasts - cardamine would seriously harm Gallia at this time. Thus the Outcasts are enemies.

2.) I'd like a Gallic Junker ID, but that's just me.

3.) Strategically ridiculous. The Council is cut in two, divided and recovering from heavy casualties from breaking the minefield, and you expect them to be able to take the prime Royalist center of activity in the Gallic Border Worlds? No thanks.

4.) If you can get the factions to RP it out, sure, why not? Personally, I would think any Sirius faction would eye ANY Gallic force with suspicion and distrust, but they have minds and can decide for themselves.
